Back from a long hiatus

I left ship building a very long time ago, at a time when changing colors was "new and different."
Well, things sure have changed.

Anyways, I've rediscovered BSF and here are the fruits of my labors.

I don't care if you tell me they suck, just be sure to tell me why they do.

Thanks.

Actually, those are pretty good. there are some nitpicks though. The Spectral Sword is unbalanced (aesthetically). The left side is too heavy and the right side is too light. I would shift the core over to the left of the ship, or lengthen the right side horizontally. Also, your colors are a bit bland. Add a little shading and outlining, in order to make parts of your ships pop out and make your ship 3D.

I beg to differ about the Spectral Sword. Sure, its unbalanced aesthetically, but that is also what makes some ships unique. Would help if the Spectral Sword was much larger, so wouldn't look as bad.

Regarding the Brilliant Truth... I'm quite okay with it. Could be better with less Deflectors and weapons. The ablative armour at the front also looks rather...uneven.

Oh my god, it's the soviets!

Not too shabby these designs. Section usage could be better, especially on the Spectral Sword. Tip; stack your deflectors on top of each other, that looks less messy.

Well hello there, long time no see, welcome back!

Anyway, the above 3 seem solid designs, but I'd advise you work on section placement and layering a bit to make things flow better, and use different shades to create illusions of depth.

ODST: I'll try lengthening the sensor part. I don't really understand what you mean about shifting the core, however.

bl3d4: Thanks! However, the ship is meant to be a light destroyer. So I'm not planning on making it much bigger any time soon. However, as I said above I'll experiment with enlarging some pieces.

ArcaneDude: oh my god, it's the... colonialists?

Will do on the deflectors.

Exethalion: Wow, someone actually remembered me! :p

I'll mess around with some colors. Honestly the grey is more of a place holder atm, I'll probably end up going with a crimson/navy blue paint job.

Thanks everyone.

Maybe it depends on the person, but I like my ships to have equal amount of mass, if you will, on each side, even my asymmetrical ones.

And when I say shift the core, I mean to move the core left or right (with the bow of the ship being up) so the left and right sides are more balanced without you adding or removing anything.

Very nice. I especially like the Sword, looks unique.

Despite that the last one is a WIP it needs moar blue.

And it'd be good to put a weapon or something on the little section on the Sword.

I like the forward heavy design on the brilliant truth, nothing like being able to scream DAMN THE TORPEDOS! FULL SPEED AHEAD! and actually be able to do it.
