History

The colony of Ganymede was founded in 2262 by a group of mining corporations that wished to create a refinery world that would be able to process the large amounts of mineral being extracted from the Asteroid Belt. The same terraforming technology that had been used successfully on the Red Planet was also used on Ganymede and in 2265 the planet was opened for settlement. The colony prospered as the by the exportation of raw materials to feed the rapidly growing Martian economy.

Over time, additional colonies were founded on the Jovian moons. The Martian Revolution sent a wave of panic through Jovian colonies, which had up to this point relied on the Terran Navy to protect them pirates and other threats. [This wave of panic would be dubbed the "New Red Scare" by pundits who thought they were incredibly clever.] The colonists on Jupiter's moon feared that Terran Naval forces would not be able to protect them from a Martian attack. Because of this fear, the colonies on Ganymede, Callisto, Io, Europa, Himalia, Amalitha, Thebe, and Elara banded together to form the Jovian Union [JU] and began the construction of a navy in order to defend themselves from the Martian Republic.

Jovian Ships

Melantho class gun drone



The Melantho class gun drone is a small escort ship. It is armed with a single Gatling Blaster and is the second smallest ship in JUN.

Aeolus class bomber drone



The Aeolus bomber drone is a small drone armed only with a Plasma Torpedo launcher and is designed to target to large, slow enemy vessel in swarms.

Aethon class frigate



The Aethon class frigate is a small vessel which is usually used as an escort by the JUN. It is lightly armed, but when used in groups, the effects can be devastating.

Laertes class frigate



The Laertes class frigate is a small vessel which is used by the JUN as an escort. It is uses the same hull as the Aethon class, but replace its weaponry with a Drone Launcher and two Flak Guns.

Phemius heavy frigate



The Phemius heavy frigate is one of the most numerous ships in the Jovian Union Navy. It is usually used in massed assaults to overwhelm the enemy.

Alcinous class cruiser



The Alcinous class is an attack cruiser designed for maximum speed and firepower. It is able to quickly outflank large enemy vessels and attack their vulnerable rears.

Argos class missile cruiser



The Argos missile cruiser is the JUN's heavy bombardment ship. It's four Missile Launchers and its Solaris spread cannon allow it to engage and destroy enemy targets from long-range.

Penelope class cruiser



The Penelope class, just like Odysseus' wife in Homer's Odysseus, could be described as "long-enduring". Its three deflector and thick front armor allow this ship to absorb large amounts of enemy fire.

Athena class carrier



The Athena class carrier is the main fleet carrier used by the JUN. It is equipped with 6 Drone Launchers, 3 Blaster weapons, 2 Flak Guns. It also serves as the main command ship of the fleet and is equipped with additional communications and command systems.

Telemachus class battleship



The Telemachus class is a small battleship and the main battleship used by the JUN. It is fast and relatively maneuverable for a ship of its size. The combination of its speed and firepower allow to devastate enemy forces.

Odysseus class dreadnought



The Odysseus class is the second largest ship in the JUN, dwarfed only by the Menelaus class. It is often seen in the middle of battles, where its penetrating Railguns and Plasma Torpedo Launcher are devastating to the enemy, stripping away their weapons leaving only a defenseless hull.

Menelaus class dreadnought



The Menelaus class is the JUN's largest and most powerful ship, it's multiple weapons systems allow to make short work of enemy ships.

Pallas Athena class super carrier



The Pallas Athena class super-carrier is a large drone support ship used by the Jovian Union Navy. This ship is equipped with 6 standard Drone Launchers and 1 Mass Drone launcher. It's drones are able to overwhelm enemy PD systems and allow other weapons to get past.

Eumaeus class freighter



The Eumaeus class is a small freighter used to transport supplies or troops within the Jovian system. It is armed with only a Flak Gun for self-defense.

Melanthius class super-freighter



The Melanthius superfriegter is the largest logistic vessel used by the Jovian Union. Its immense cargo compartments can be reconfigured so it can carry bulk friegt, troops, or a combination of both. It is armed with two Particle Guns and a Gatling Blaster for self-defense.

Note:Pretty much a rip-off of Water and Wind's TNTT-Berger

Amphitea class defense station



The Amphitea class is the standard defense station used by the JUN. It is armed with a single Gatling Blaster, two Missile Launchers, and two Flak Guns.

Nausica experimental weapons platform



The Nausica weapons platform is a heavy orbital cannon designed to bombard enemy colonies.

No download yet, I'm still tweaking the ship's weapons and armor values in order to create a better balance with AD's Martian Republic and Lizzie's IVL Warfleet ships.

It appears the Argos does not match it's counterpart in the fleet picture.
Separate version?

Backstory approved, but I may make a few suggestions overtime.

Good ships, though the Nausica seems a bit...I dunno. Noob-ish. Theoretically, there's nothing wrong with it, but it has an odd feel.

The one in the Fleet picture is the older version, I later redesigned the ship.

I'll play around with the ship a little bit and see what I can come up with.

These are some pretty fine ships.
Although the Nausica seems to look different from the rest of the ships
I'm thinking it might be because of the aegised sections located around the ship. In my opinion, it would look a bit better If you removed them.

Really nice ships. But I think that is personal because they look a lot like mine.(I think my robot ramship will function great in that fleet!) colours are spot on and none of them are over/underpowered compared to other ships.
Sum this all up and you got a rather fine fleet.

No, I have never played Eve online. I used "Jovian" becuase the faction is a union between the Terran colonies on the moons of Jupiter.

Jovian: Adj. 1. Jovian - of or pertaining to or characteristic of or resembling the planet Jupiter; "Jovian satellites"
2. Jovian - of or pertaining to or befitting the Roman deity Jupiter; "Jovian thunderbolts"; "Jovian wrath"

i really love the carrier designs and the alcinous class cruiser, they have a very human feel to them with a hint of advanced human in the designs as well

Not half bad for the scale. They're not over-complex or too simple.

There's a couple aesthetic problems I have, awkward angles and fragile linkages, but that can be easily changed.

As usual, C&C would be appreciated.

The ships essentially look like modded stock ships, but you've managed to make them look good. Good job.

I thought it was interesting when the wings had glow.

Maybe you can add a couple glowy rods.

The Melanthus looks kinda familiar doesn't it, Aidan?

The Melanthius is class is based on... oh okay, I admit it. It is a complete rip-off of TNTT-Berger, a cool freighter design from Water and Win's Thrusallania Navy which is a really good (and in my opinion under appreciated) fleet.
