MRA3G; Important Poll (from 02/15 to 02/16/09)

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

That era never started to begin with. Whats the point of loading 1000+ section ship if it makes the game implode.

So it's too big. My best ship will not load because it's too big. What the fuck is this bullshit. I'll see if I can nick a few sections off, but there's no fucking way in hell I'm changing the design.

I'm afraid people'll just have to look at it.

Epic Uber Awesomeness!!!!!!!!!

With the size of the ship and variety of sections, you are able to add alot more detail into the design then a ship of a smaller size. It will be sad not to be able to play ships like the Jade Martyr in game anymore, that was a truly impressive ship. Since you can no longer play them you won't see too many people making them anymore :(

Perhaps there is a way for them to extend the limit in the game, it is a pretty big drawback in this version. All the new functions in the ship maker now make the ship file for in game play almost as big as the blueprint file for the ship maker. Before the ship file was only about a third the size of the blueprint file :?

I've yet to see a 1000+ ship or even a 500+ ship that looks totally decent. All respect to AD for making the Jade Martyr, which looks great for it's size but I do believe that it could be pulled off with less sections. Most large ships look poor really IMO. My favourites are all around the 100 section mark. It's true that you can add more detail in individual areas but it's very rare that you can pull it off so that these details flow with each other throughout the ship, to form a coherent theme. Most of the time they're huge bricks with a few fancy tidbits and shinies. The JM is an exception, as is the Necro Dreadnought Rex, whose style I liked. For a typical example of a horrid big ship, see my Matterhorn class monitor which I thankfully never finished.

It seems that massive ships are at an end?
Damn.

Ah well, looks like its time for stock ships to shine!

When I saw that huge ship, though, I was blown right out of my seat. That think is A MA ZING.

Massive ships aren't at an end, you'll just have to draw bigger sections. ;3

Unfortunately, I don't have the patience nor the sheer determination to start chopping the JM up. Actually, I think I'm just gonna start something new, leave the MRA to what it is. I'd release the sb4's I have. Quick poll to decide what I'm gonna do.

I abstained from voting. You shouldn't feel constrained to a single project, but at the same time I think it'd be a big loss if you stopped working on the MRA entirely.

Unless I got all your sb4s .

I'm not going to vote, because while I think it's be a masive waste if you trashed this entirely, I also think you should just do what you want. If you're making yourself work on something then it'll be just frustrating to you and the products probably won't be so good.

Sounds Awesome.

And btw, about mongo ships not being able to spawn in the game? I say just be patient. As time goes by computers will get faster, the game more efficient, and the size limit farther off. Then again, that is a pretty big ship...

It's not a problem we can fix, or that the advances of hardware can fix. It's a limitation with GameMaker itself; it can only execute so much code at once. When ships surpass this limit there's nothing we can do.

Besides, there's not much we can do to make it more efficient either.
