An unamed fleet from a long-time lurker

I've posted ships on this forum only once before about a year ago and then promptly disappeared. Well, I regained some interest with Battleships Forever recently, and I decided to make a few ships.

The result is the small fleet of five ships shown here. All sections are assigned custom hit point values because I hate waiting for ships to explode after being reduced to little more than their cores. As you may have noticed, I have yet to give the fleet a name; however, each ship does have its own name.

Flagships and/or additional ships may come with time.

Comment and critique to your hearts' content.

Crusader

The Crusader is a Destroyer class ship. Its battlefield specialization is flank attacks. Drawing on classic naval fighting, the Crusader is designed to broadside its target as it executes its flanking maneuver.

Besides its shielded sections, it is poorly armored; thus, careful use is required. It is typically not a good idea to use this ship by itself.

Note: I just realized that I missed one of the turrets while I was changing bullet color. Sorry about that.

Deliverance

The Deliverance is a long-range artillery platform. It is heavily armed with six primary cannons and two secondary beamers.

It is vulnerable to flank attacks as all of its weapons fire forward only.

Repent

The Repent is a light-destroyer designed to be used in groups. It is armed with laser guided missiles. During battle, it is usually best to use it for flank attacks or just as supporting fire.

It has the weakest armor of the fleet, but is also more mobile then the others.

Note: I kind of feel like this is underpowered: like its size doesn't fit its firepower.

Bulwark

The Bulwark is a specialty ship. Its only purpose is to provide cover for other ships on the field. Expert management of these ships is required to get the most out of them.

It is armed with no weapons or point defenses. Any weapon strong enough to overload the shields, or instead, get around them is effective against the Bulwark. It is also vulnerable to flank attacks.

Paladin

The Paladin battleship is the front line of the fleet. It is heavily armored with both a small shield and ablative armor. Armed with a heavy beamer, it can easily burn through most ships' armor in seconds. In addition, it is armed with two missile bays that launch radar-guided missiles for long-range fights.

While the Paladin possesses heavy ablative armor on it frontal sections, it has no such armor on the sides or rear. It is especially vulnerable to attacks from the rear: none of its weapons fire in that direction, and the main structural supports are exposed to rear attackers.

The Paladin also has a "blind" spot if the enemy ships have the right countermeasures. The missiles do not have a particularly high turn rate; thus, a ship capable of countering its beamer fighting it at close range will be safe from all of the Paladin's weapons.

Additionally, armor piercing weapons are effective against the Paladin.

Love it. Nice job for a new person and the fact that you have lurked is great. The coulors don't seem to fit in my opinion though. They look almost too bright somehow but thats just me being me. I like the use of 16's on the Deliverance. It really is a nice job.

Also, Welcome to wyrdsym forums :)

I think that the floating aegised section on the bulwark creates a nice tethered effect and the repent makes good use of outlining
To make it better I would give all of the ships outlining, especially the paladin because I think that would look great with outlining

Great ships, thanks for lurking.
The Bulwark I like, there will be some very interesting tactical battles with that thing.
The Paladin seems underarmed to me, but then again I don't know the strength of that beamer.

I think these ships are quite excellent. The coloring (to me, at least) looks very nice, as well as the outlining. The ships don't look too wanky, and not spammy. Very well done.

Nice job with the ships, I like the style and colours. Also, well done on not overusing outlining, you did well there. My only real recommendations are that you change the aegis glow colour, because the default white is rather unappealing, and that you continue more ships in this style.

Also, your first set of ships were also quite good for the time, it's a shame you hadn't continued with shipbuilding more steadily.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I was going for a gold color instead of the yellow, but I don't know how to get more colors other than the ones on the palette. I think I recall someone saying something about hex codes in these forums somewhere. I'll play around with the colors some more if I can figure out how to do that.

I'll add a bit more outlining to the Paladin: I do agree that its a bit lacking there. I'll fiddle around with the aegis colors as well.

Can't guarantee it's what your looking for, but it might help. It also has RGB codes.

I was asking if anyone knew how to use hex codes inside shipbuilder, or if it's even possible. Does it have to do with string editing?

Hex codes are your friend. They're simply the RGB value in base 16.

You take the 6 digit hex-code:

e.g. 0x57fe24

You split it into 3 groups of two:

57 - fe - 24

Then you convert from base 16 into base 10 (if you don't know how to do that, just use either the computer's calculator or an online service).

80+7 - 240+14 - 32+4
87 - 254 - 36

So 0x57fe24 = R87 G254 B36. Not sure what color that'd be, I just chose one at random.

Hmmm, those certainly make me wanna rethink my current ships that I have made. Nice work, by the way!
