Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Apologies for double post, but bump for update. The Tal'Vun Direct Fire Support Ship, using a whole new beam cannon (but mainly as an excuse to try green with the Tal'Vorah color scheme).
Story goes that the Tal'Vun is using newly discovered exotic matter found in the Tal'Vorah home system to power its new high powered beam cannon.
A simulated scenario where the Tal'Vun fires its main cannon at an enemy.

Side note: i have CT to thank again as i used his method of staggering the beam durations to create a better 'power down' beam effect at the end of each salvo.
I should probably thank Droid as well, since his Scourge subspace cannon ship inspired some of the design in the Tal'Vun.

FreeSpace 2 beam cannons, here we come.
Another good design there, fitting for a big weapon.

Very true, but you can make the non-slashing beams without that problem.

Anyway i have something new in mind but before progressing i got a question to pose. Since the green beam color seems to be highly welcomed, i was wondering if i should change the beam colors on all the ships to green.
what do you say? Yay or Nay?
edit: actually i dunno where i got the "green is highly welcomed" but my question still stands
Yes to green weapons, but not all of them. Make it realisitc, where the ship has several different kinds of weapons. If all of the beams run off of the exotic material, use green. But please don't use it for every single weapon.
The exotic material is more of a 'kind of weapon' like plasma weapons, projectile weapons...can have many colors, but if green is it's 'realistic' color, I'd use it for every weapon that runs on it. Maybe different shades, though.

I have struck upon an idea, i might split the Tal'Vorahian fleet in two. One is a special technical dispatch tasked with testing the viability of using 'exotic matter' in combat while the other is the standard military fleet
Hmm yes this might work. Provides a chances for structural deviation...
Added The Tal'Au'Vah the Central Research Vessel and also reorganized the set of ships into two groups, the Au Technical Dispatch Research Group and the Naval Battlefleet Au.
The purpose of the Tal'Au'Vah are threefold, firstly it is to test a new reactor that is built to use this new reaction compound, secondly it is to test the viability of the Exotic Matter (ExMa) to power beam weapons, and thirdly to see if bottling the reactor gases in a magnetic field and shooting it at a target can serve as a weapon.
