Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!
These are the first 3 ships I made using the Shipmaker. I figured I would post them here and see what people think, please leave your comments good or bad, anything is fine by me.
The first ship is the Forerunner, and this is the first ship I made:
The second ship is the Omega, It is the only one that has been uploaded to the ship database:
The Third ship is the Tulus, its firing a modified beamer:
The Forerunner i think is the best, because it is the most pleasing to look at then the others, although it could be improved abit and on the Omega and Tulus you need to reduce the number of weapons.
You are no God to me
You are nothing to me
This is a reckoning
Enjoy this while it lasts
It won't be long before it dies.
Thank you for the quick responces, tbh, I had no real plan when designing these ships, I just sorta through pieces togeather and different weapons to see how they would act and such.

I'd suggest getting one, eh?
You could always look around the Custom Ships forum for examples of ships designed by other shipmakers for inspiration.
well not really blasphemy but i do suggest, as MC does, to have a plan, usually a themed fleet will help with this too. so like following a single design theme will really assist in future ship building
and yup the forums are a great place for inspiration.
Well, after playing around some more I came up with a theme I like, and started applying to the Forerunner, I still have some more work I want to put into it, mostly installing weapons. But here is the revised version so far:
1. Mid-section is too empty, you might eventually end up with what we would call "frog-ships". Which look unaesthetic.
2. The nose looks like a very clear bunch of repeated sections. Section repetition is usually an ugly thing if not done tastefully, so I think you might have to watch out for that. It's not a really big problem now, but it will be if you continue to use the sections, 2, 17 and 25 for the nose every single time you construct a ship in the same theme.
3. You still need to beef that ship up further. Especially the rear.
Darkship wrote:beef up the middle section, people here generally don't like anorexic ships. besides you don't want your ship splitting in half after one shot right?
Actually, one of the reasons I've kept the middle section so narrow, is because I always enjoyed watching it get split in half
I am liking that last ship for some reason. I like the big wedge up front with the thin rear, though I'd try to increase the aft area's complexity with more sections that keep roughly to the original shape.
I also like the idea of the thin waist, giving the ship a built-in Achilles heel. Maybe keep it relatively thin while increasing the complexity with a few more sections though. I have kind of the same idea on the fleet I am currently building; there is a weak point on some of the larger ships that can cause a catastrophic series of explosions that move up towards the bow. Ships getting cut in half gives a kind of flair to battles, heh.
Now and then we had a hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be pirates.
