Nero's Random Collection of Ships and WIPs

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Nero's Random Collection of Ships and WIPs

Post by Neroman »

I scrapped the idea of the other fleet and started working on more smaller scale ships. I'm not to great at the large scale ships.

Here are my first two heavy cruisers.

The Adeptus Class Heavy Cruiser:

Nemo (No Name, yet) Class Cruiser (WIP):

Gah...the repetition... it hurts!!! Mix it up with different sections, and vary the interior even a LITTLE bit, please?

actually the repetition is not so much an issue as the stretching and the mirroring errors. And yes, though two or three rows of something is not horrible, you spam one part in each area of the ship...mix it up a bit and it will improve.

The Adeptus captures the look of a large ship while not being a monster, I like that and the shape... there's a lot of repetition though.

The repetition on the second, though, is unforgivable.

The first one I drew on paper earlier in the year for fun.

The second one, like I said, is a WIP.
You don't like the repetition in the arms?

repetition is not always bad, if its the look your going for
it is good if you want it to look like armor plate
i personally like the repetition on the second one, it just seems to fit it

the question you should be asking is do you like the repetition, remember this is a game and its meant to be enjoyed and to have fun. its nice when another likes your ship but its more important that you like them, if you think it could look better with less repetition then change it. if you like the repetition then keep it if its the look your going for

Are people around here just conditioned to believe that ALL repetition is bad no matter what? I think the Nemo looks pretty cool. I like the overall shape.

I wonder if it would look a little better if the section 02's were spaced a little more consistently.

I made a second version. I removed the back and extended it. I'll post a pic when I get home from school.

so it would seem. not all repetition is bad, i have seen some that look very nice

i think peoples views have been corrupted by many of the beauty pageant ships. not all ships can or will look like that, many of them where made as art pieces and can't be played and where never meant to be played

many seem to forget that this is a game and the ships are meant to be played with, if you can make your ships nice looking thats great but at the expense of them not being able to be played i don't think its worth it

never said there was, in my post i said if you can do both then its great but you should not do it at the expense of it being playable and having fun as it is a game and not an art show

if you can make a beautiful ship that is fair and kick ass to play then its awesome ^^
