Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Excerpt from an official press release by Emperor Tevalsh himself:
...we have two goals: to meet the creators of the alien ship and make peace with them, and to destroy the Preservers, who would stop us from achieving that first goal. To meet both, a new fleet has been commissioned. Faster, bigger, and stronger than our current ships, we shall crush the Preservers like the militaristic bugs they are, and join the aliens in the exploration of space, planting ourselves as a galactic power forever..
Two new classes have finished design so far and are now in production phase, the Delis'ril and the Tia'dra:

I've also updated the First Era ships with only house colors (the color values are right above the download section), and made the missile launchers non-rotating, because they look better that way.

I seem to be having mild problems with my host right now, the images and downloads should be fixed soon.

Quadruple Major Event MEGAPOST!!!

Updates include: More backstory, two new ships, my first encounter (featuring both first and Second Era ships), various tweaks to First Era ships, and more backstory! The first post has been updated with the new ships, and will be updated with the other stuff soon.
Oh, and AidanAdv, make sure you read the last parts.

[1] Year 10 - Battle of Kalostin
At 0900 hours, several unknown contacts were sighted by the Kalostin sensor arrays. A scouting group was sent to check out the contacts, and confirmed the presence of seven large Preserver ships in the area. The fifth reserve fleet was called in to intercept the Preserver forces before they could attack the shipyards at Kalostin, where the new Dalis'ril and Tia'dra designs were being mass-produced. When the fifth fleet entered visual range at 0940 hours, they sent back scans of two ships of unknown design to Tul'thare High Command:
ImageImage
The fifth fleet then engaged the much smaller Preserver force, but at 1000 hours, contact with the fifth fleet was suddenly lost. High Command then ordered the nearby third and eighth fleets to investigate, and to fight off any remaining Preservers. However, when they arrived at 1100 hours, the Preservers had completely demolished the Kalostin shipyards, razed several cities on the surface, and had successfully fled.
At 1500 hours, it was confirmed by the TGE design teams that the Preserver ships encountered were the TGE's own unfinished designs. A frenzied investigation followed, and at 2100 hours several members of the TGE design team were arrested and tried for high treason causing extreme death and damages. The next morning they were executed by decompression.
On the positive side, the scans obtained by the fifth fleet allowed the TGE design teams to finish the new designs, dubbed the Ar'tonan and the Kel'theron, within a few short days, and were being constructed en mass shortly thereafter.

With these two new ships, the Second Era is done, and a download has been added here and to the bottom of the first post.

[2] Year 11 - Battle of Dynerril
Halfway through year 11, the efforts of TGE intelligence had finally paid off, and the current base of operations for the Preserver forces was traced back to the Dynerril system. A small task force was sent in to lead the assault, hopefully not triggering the Preservers into fleeing until the third, fourth, and seventh fleets, who had set courses to flank the system, could close in and finish the kill.
At 1530 hours, the lead group came into visual range of a sizeable Preserver fleet. Apparently, the Preservers had sensed the incoming fleets, and decided to make a stand against the initial assault with everything they had. The lead TGE group called for the rest of the fleets to close in, as the Preservers could escape easily if they punched through the lead group to freedom.

This would be my first encounter, and the download is available here and at the bottom of the first post.

Aftermath:
With the entire Preserver fleet destroyed, the remnants of the TGE forces made it to the Dynerril system just in time to pick up the last traces of a large contingent of Preserver civilian craft escaping in all directions. The pursuit was given up after several hours, after the first ship the TGE tried to capture self-destructed while being boarded. While the Preservers had not been completely eradicated, they had at least been crushed hard enough to cripple them for several more years.

[3] Year 13 - Preservers Make First Contact
Newsflash: At 0600 hours this morning, an outlying sensor array detected and identified several Tulshar freighters moving at high speeds towards a group of unidentified contacts. The array then focussed all sensors on the area, and was able to observe the freighters kamikaze three alien vessels. The alien ships were crippled by the heavy debris, and one was destroyed. Several Preserver vessels then entered the area, and this communication from the lead Preserver ship to the two alien vessels was intercepted by the sensor array:
Lead Preserver Vessel wrote:...your kind has attempted to destroy our race before, and you will not be allowed a second chance. You have trespassed on Tul'tharian space, and we will defend it with our lives. Prepare to die.
Immediately following this communique, the Preserver ships opened fire and destroyed the two remaining ships.
Analysts have determined an 80% chance, based on the design of the alien craft, that they are made by the same race as the ship that crashed into Tul'thare 18 years ago. Emperor Tevalsh released a statement on the subject:
Emperor Tevalsh wrote:...The Preservers are back, and they have managed to find the aliens before we have. Worse, they disguised their ships and crew in this first contact as a TGE vessel, framing us for the destruction of those ships. A small fleet shall be sent out to find the aliens, and hopefully bring us to peace with them, despite the Preserver's efforts to bring us to war.
Further investigation into the matter reveals that the databases on the crashed alien ship have been translated, and that these aliens call themselves the Scinfaxi.

[4] Year 13 - TGE Makes First Contact
The fleet sent out as a diplomatic convoy has run across around 10 Scinfaxi ships, and is currently hailing them, asking for peaceful negotiations to take place.

Greetings alien fleet, this is Shiplord Junikta of the 167th Emperor Huyi'pon, of the Scinfaxi Conquest Fleet. We have contacted the Scinfaxi Foreign Ministry, and they will be happy to accept your ambassadors on Scin and give them an audience with the Emperor. We hope to help you in your battle against the Preservers, the ships that were attacked were trade scouts looking to find new markets for our goods. We are transmitting the coordinates for Scin to you now. May both of our civilizations prosper.

Upon arrival at Scin, the TGE ambassadors appealed to the Scinfaxi Empire for peace and trade treaties, citing the fact that the whole reason the Tul'tharian Galactic Empire exists is because a Scinfaxi ship crashed on Tul'thare.
A rough outline of agreements asked for by the Tul'tharian ambassadors follows:
-Open trade of resources and technology between the two nations.
-Formation of embassies on both homeworlds, to make communication between the two empires as effective as possible.
-Formation of an official border between the TGE and the Scinfaxi, with previous Scinfaxi space claims taking precedence over TGE claims, but TGE colonization of space taking precedence over Scinfaxi claims.
-Mutual promises of military support in times of need, in exchange for TGE loyalty and increased armament to fulfill its role.
-Scinfaxi recognition of the TGE as a sovereign nation.
-TGE will pay reparations for the damages caused by Preserver attacks prior to the signing of this treaty.

The Tul'tharian ambassadors have presented the above for consideration by the Scinfaxi Empire, and has done so in a way that signifies that these need not be the final agreements.

OOC: Third Era ships will be coming soon, if all goes well.

EDIT: Added the reparations agreement, thought it might sweeten the deal a bit.

-- Begin Message --

The Emperor Skaalerg approves the proposal the ambassadors have put forth. We recognize the TGE as a sovereign space nation and will give them full assistance against the Preservers and any other threats. Will we cede all territorial claims within 35 light years of the TGE current boundaries. We are already sending trade ambassadors to your systems in order to build deals. The Emperor looks forward with cooperating with you in the future.

Oh, and @Arcanedude and Lizzie, I'm planning on joining the SVE/IVL story with my Third Era ships, would I be able to
No problem for me, although that also means you'll be in the whole To'Hol Venaari thing. And frankly, I want stuff to shoot at. Hint hint.

I got no problem with it. Just depends on which side decides to shoot at/make an alliance with the IVL first. The TGE or the Preservers.

The Emperor has announced the design of a new fleet, to be named the Imperial Tul'tharian Navy. The fleet will greatly increase the TGE's military might, to the levels of the space-faring empires that surround it. Scinfaxi technology, obtained from trade, will be used to develop the new fleet, and the ships have been announced to be much bigger than any other ships built by the TGE so far. The ITL's main purpose is to fulfill Term 4 of the Treaty of Al'drect. (the agreement several posts above)

Three new hull designs, from top to bottom, are the Kal, a medium destroyer, the Den, a light destroyer, and the Mir, a corvette of yet-to-be-determined heaviness.
For the Third Era, I'm making the ships by hull first, and then applying various armaments to them as neccessary. The naming scheme works as follows: (class name, 3 letters)'(armament name, 4 letters), eg. Kal'thak, Den'puro.
Weapons used will fall into one of three roles: Spamming, anti-shield, or hull busting.
Spamming: Usually projectile weapons, have low damage and accuracy to greatly increase rate of fire, the purpose being to distract enemy PD from the heavier shots, and to cause the enemy to possibly use all of their deflector modules, providing a time of no shield coverage, allowing the hull busters to do their work. Beams used in this role would be entirely for the letter purpose.
Anti-shield: Medium damage weapons that one way or another, get past enemy shields. This would include missiles aimed to arc around to hit an enemy's flank, sidewinders, tachyons, etc.
Hull busting: Heavy damage, long reload weapons used for the explicit purpose of bashing through enemy hulls. Normally completely repelled by shielding, these weapons deal their damage when the enemies' shields are down.

Hopefully my ship-building skills have improved enough to generate some comments.

Nice armored fronts, they look they could just ram enemy ships. I like the hulls, keep up the good work.

Sweet! Someone replied!
The lack of replies here are practically court-worthy proof that my ships are perfectly normal. No major flaws, no problems, but not strikingly creative or beautiful. Hopefully that'll change. (either the amount of replies or ship quality)

I've also noticed something quite interesting while doing weapon tests. My blaster-spam to distract enemy PD completely failed when the part. guns completely ignored the blaster fire when the tachyons were in range. Somehow, PD prioritizes which projectiles it should shoot first, and it's not by proximity, first-see first-shoot, or any of the edit tab stats (I uber wanked the blasters and nerfed the tach's down to practically 0 on all stats, and they still prioritized the tachs). I'm wondering how the PD prioritizes which to shoot first, and how to manipulate this to make my spamming idea work. It also seems to affect point beams too, which is a real bummer since PBs are also one-shot guarantees. Hopefully th15 could shed some light on this. :)
Obviously, this puts a big kink in my spam-cannon philosophy, so I'll probably revert to more standard weapon roles.

In other news, I've updated the three ships I've got out. I tore out the bridge sections on the bigger two, and played around with shield dome and PD positioning.
Oh, and to keep the story going:
(From Preserver point of view) The Preservers have met two new powerful alien races, the VSE and the IVL, on the opposite side of TGE space from the Scinfaxi. Hoping to get their support, the High Preserver has sent out diplomatic teams to start negotiations, with heavy escort groups to ensure their arrival. The ambassadors have been given orders to offer the following terms:
-Formal alliance between the (IVL/VSE) and the Preservers.
-The (IVL/VSE) will immediately declare war against the TGE and the Scinfaxi.
-(IVL/VSE) will not need to offer non-military support at all, or military support past the war efforts against the Scinfaxi and TGE.
-(IVL/VSE) traders will be allowed full access to Preserver markets.
-(IVL/VSE) will get priority to spoils of war, including territory, POW, and captured ships.

Yes, I do enjoy writing up these little treaties. And yes, I am also aware of the current VSE-Scinfaxi alliance. This could get interesting...
Arcane, you said you wanted stuff to shoot at? Now you get a choice!

I've been working on the weapons for those three hulls right now, and this is what I've got so far:
ImageKal'thak
ImageKal'puro
ImageDen'puro
ImageMir'kore
I'm not too happy with weapon placement, cause it looks like the ship is just a platform that the weapons sit on. I'm not quite sure how to go about blending them into the ship, so anyone got some suggestions? I'm open to adding more sections and such to the hull if necessary.

Perhaps you could add a round section underneath the railguns to make a turret.

Why not mount each of the blasters on one of the small rectangular sections (can't recall number)?
