The Snake Army - Update: The Anaconda
Since some people seem to like the idea of a snake-themed ship, I went ahead and made another one. Hopefully, if I'm not too busy, I'll keep going and make a whole fleet out of this. I am, however, terrible at writing backstory, so I'm not really worrying about that right now. Anyway, hope you enjoy.
The Snake Army
Rattlesnake-Class Cruiser
-The cluster of point beams on the back are the "rattle". Originally, I was going to use Demeters, but they were a bit too big and didn't look as good.
-The Rattlesnake's eye beams are upgraded scatter beams that do 7.5 times as much damage as a normal scatter beam. They're the primary weapon of the Rattlesnake and are enhanced with boosters (partly for practicality and partly cause of the cool glowing effect ).
-The fangs of the Rattlesnake are modified repeater guns. They give up some range at the expense of doing triple damage. The projectiles are venom from the fangs, so they are, of course, green.
-The most recent addition to the Rattlesnake is the body-mounted Weasel Gun. It was added to give the Rattlesnake some extra firepower that couldn't be blasted off as easily. It is also modified, giving up range for extra power and a lower reload time.
the Rattlesnake's strength is probably fairly comparable to the game's standard battleships. It has definite strengths and weaknesses and can be very effective in the hands of a skilled player. It's fairly impervious to projectile weapons because of all the point beams, whose range extends just beyond the front of the ship. However, it's very vulnerable to beam weapons. The weapons are extremely powerful, able to slice most ships up in a few seconds, but they're all front-firing and have fairly low ranges. If you can keep your distance or get to the side of the Rattlesnake, you can avoid it's devastating firepower. To offset the weakness of having lots of short range, front-mounted weaponry, the Rattlesnake's frontal armor plating is heavily reinforced.
Anaconda-Class Battleship
The Anaconda is a huge, slow-moving battleship that instills fear in the hearts of all those who see it. While uneducated observers might think the ship is easily evadable, nothing could be further from the truth. Anaconda-Class ships are equipped with 3 extremely powerful gravity beam generators, able to move even large cruisers around with ease. Enemies who dare to come within range are held in place within the Anaconda's coils and crushed by the massive amount of sheer firepower directed at them.
Anaconda-Class Battleships employ 3 primary weapons.
- An extremely powerful shockbeamer able to slice through most standard-issue ships in mere seconds.
- A rapid-fire Tachyon turret that wreaks havoc on the interior workings of enemy ships.
- A heavy damage Gattling Pulse cannon which fires a spray of lethal bulltes, overwhelming defenses and slicing through armor like a hot knife through butter.
- The interior of the coil is lined with high-density armor, protecting the ship from extensive debris damage when enemies are destroyed.
- Anaconda-Class ships are also equipped with a Frosch EMP gun to disable their targets for easier disposal.
-3 nanomatrices are installed on the ship to repair damage in the field, mainly to repair damage the inner hull takes from debris.

Well, first things first: Welcome to the community!
Now, to commenting the ship:
Pros
It is good for a beginner ship.
The idea for the hull shape is definitely original.
The hull design itself is pulled off good.
Colors fit.
It looks like what it is designed to.
Cons
Not a big fan of the snake idea (but this is just personal preference).
Point Defense spam in the back is exactly that: spam (you could fix that by making some of them have ridiculously long firing rates, therefore making them useless).
And that's about all I have to say on the ship. All in all, it's a nice ship, and a pretty good one for your first.

No, wait, go back! Why are there six pedals if there are only four directions?

Thanks for the feedback guys.
Well, I hadn't originally had the point beams in the design. Like I said, I was originally going to use Demeters there, but they were just too big and didn't give the right look. I wanted something small and pretty much circular so I could put a lot of them on there and give it that "rattle" look. Of course, what I ended up with is a ship that is highly resistant to projectiles. With all the weaknesses that the ship has, I'm not sure that's a bad thing. It's works visually, it serves a purpose, and it isn't overpowered in the scope of the whole ship. Maybe I'm not seeing something, but I'm not sure there's a huge problem there.

Of course! I still carry the scars of that fight...Zeron wrote:Have you ever seen a rattlesnake use it's tail to deflect incoming projectiles, OR fire lasers from it's eyes?
Maybe it should have lower HP, snake are maneuverable and deadly, but aren't exactly tough. (Smacks laser-spewing snake in head with rock).

Now that was an ambiguous use of 'fail'. Is the rattlesnake fail? Was Zeron's message fail? Or did Zeron's eloquence in critiquing the balance level of the rattler move Anarki to tears while replying fail in salute to Zeron? We may never know...

What, you don't have laser shooting snakes where you're from?
Thanks for the feedback guys, I really appreciate it.
"Turning is a bit too fast."
Well, having literally all the weaponry be forward-facing kind of necessitates the fast turn speed. As was mentioned, it also kind of fits in with the snake theme.
"It's supposed to be stock balanced, but it doesn't seem that way."
That was a rough estimate I was throwing out there. At the moment, it's probably a bit more powerful than stock, though not by a long shot. It really all depends on the matchup. It murders ships without beam weapons, but it's also comically easy to disable if you can turn some fairly strong beams on it. I let the computer duke it out between 3 Sinopes, and the Sinopes won pretty handily, and that's even with them all attacking from the front.
I might have to nerf the strength of the front plates a bit and lower the range on the eye beams to bring it down to a more feasible strength.
