Miniships!

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Miniships!

Post by Perturabo »

Well this is my "small project" that I've been working on the last couple days.

Miniships!
Image

Basically, I wanted to have huge fleet battles without completely screwing the fps of the game. These craft are small and simple enough to have huge fleets fighting each other without any real slowdown.

Obviously, they are all balanced to each other, and are "weak" compared to normal ships, and EXTREMELY "weak" against basically all custom ships posted here. For example, the Battleship (biggest ship in the picture besides the Hestia) has an HP count of 500. The Fighters have an HP of 80.

Weapon ranges are also edited for the sense of scale. The weapon power is mostly kept the same, so ships are blown apart fairly quickly, which leads to exciting and action-packed battles.

I'm making a few encounters to showcase the ships, and will release them and the ship pack in a while.

What do you think?

I like what I see here. A good concept, ships that look good, massive fleet battles that won't kill a computer...

All in all, it is a great idea.
No, wait, go back! Why are there six pedals if there are only four directions?

Great idea, although the thrusters are oversized.

Why must you tempt me to spend hours making similarly miniaturized fleets and make a bunch of scenarios when I have an exam tomorrow morning?

Looks good!

Shrunk sections don't affect FPS. The section/weapon/doodad count is what matters.

This reminds me of the time when my friend thought making the text smaller in word documents would decrease the file size. Would have smacked him right there if my other friend didn't say how good of an idea that was.

As long as you're using less sections, not just smaller sections, its fine.

There are less sections. If you look the highest section count is most likely no more than 25, except for maybe the station. I could make it less, but the ships would die too quick and lose important parts.

As for the thrusters, you can't resize them, so meh.

edit*
I just counted, the station actually is 25 parts, the Battleship is 20.

The idea of making a mini type of ships are cool. Can't wait to see someone making mini versions of the stock ships just to get the ball rolling. LoL

Looks good, though I believe you have a slight mirroring error on the bulkheads of the Station.

Some people have already said this actually doesn't help.
