Custom Ships Archive #1

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Orion-class Military Freighter. Used to safely transport military hardware and personnel between assembly sites, or for the recovery and transport of alien equipment, as shown here under heavy escort;

Image

Stats based on my old Heavy Cargo Liner, albeit a touch slower and more unwieldy. Higher AI range and far better armament make it quite dangerous to engage even on it's own, though it's not much of a match for battleships despite high HP. It's front has two compact layers of ablative armour plates designed to soak up incoming damage.

The Orion's core is in the center of the vessel, on that "island" with the two gatblasters and four flak guns.

Click on the image to download it. It's fairly alpha-ish but the BP is included if anyone wants to tweak it to their liking in terms of cargo or to examine it closely and suggest minor alterations. Any apparent 'errors' in cargo placement are likely not errors.

Default cargo is assorted equipment containers and two prongs from alien ships en route to a research and construction site.

Cutaway view to simulate low-density armour and railgun-vulnerable cargo. Also because it looks good.

Sirius-class Stealth Cruiser

Actually based off a teeny tiny Lego ship I made.

The Sirius-class Stealth Cruiser is a silent but deadly nemesis, capable of prolonged wars of attrition and surprise assaults. It's matte black radar and light absorbant hull makes it invisible to even some of the most advanced LIDAR and RADAR systems available.

The Sirius is surprisingly fast and agile, and boasts a powerful accelerator as well as a short-range jump drive and autorepair matrix. It's main weapons are a pair of special beam cannons, linked to capacitor banks mounted in the wings. It also has several missile launchers, and a bank of pulseguns for hit and run strikes or deterring assaults. Finally, six flak cannons make up it's point defenses.

None of it's weapons have been modified.

Go Lego!
Look Up
upon reading this:
50% of people will have scrolled up
25% will have looked at their ceiling
The last 25% can now feel smug because everyone else has taken orders from a little sig box.

Uploaded my first set of ships, so I suppose I should post the pics to go with them. There are rather a lot of them, so please bear with me.

Image

The Dirge was an attempt to create a ship which relies on modules rather than conventional weapons, and comes in several different configurations.

Image

Divine Whisper, a mothership-type craft.

Image

Excalibur. Yes, I know the name has probably been used before, but you must admit that it's appropriate. Also, it carries the odd "Config II" addendum, because my first set-up was a bit odd and I like this one much better. It's still in the .zip, if you want to have a look.

Image

Grimnir. Nothing really special about this one, aside from being a bit larger than most of the others.

Image

Hekatonchires. Looks rather like a space station, and fires in all directions.

Image

Keening, one of the stranger ships I've made. The side with the platform fabricator is actually the front; the large, pointy bits are the sides.

No, I don't plan to name any ships Sunder or Wraithguard.

Image

Lament, another more-or-less normal ship.

Image

Last Seed, also normal though with a slightly unusual design.

Image

Pinnacle, a fast ship which fires a broadside of pulse cannons.

Image

Requiem, another fast ship with pulse cannons.

Image

Scarab, for long-range bombardment.

Image

Talon. Short-range attack ship.

Image

Tantalus. Comes in three models.

Image

Tensor. Alien weapons + platform fabricator.

And finally...

Image

Wake. Fun with custom Sidewinders.

Those are pretty cool, they make up a excellent next-gen Alien fleet

I don't think I'll make a thread until 3.0 is out, but here's a two of my old superships.

The OM NOM NOM shape is more than a fashion statement, since it allows it to get behind the neck of other wankships with the modified Tach Drivers.
