yes, I see it. perhaps if you opened up the front of the ship a little and gave it a barrel, kinda memento mori style that would look good, especially with the yellow outline.

I'd still love to see a version that launches fighters. then it'd be like a cross between a sub and an aircraft carrier.
The thing with this ship is for some reason it doesn't look good when a gap is made to show "Hay guyz, I can has cliche ubergun." so I had to go with a solid bow. What I need to do is find a way to make it appear out of place to the point it looks like a seperate part of the ship.

well, if you want to hide the main gun, you could put some more guns up front, slightly off to the side.

Or, you could just make a slightly more inconspicuous barrel using the outlining you already have going.

Both of those are my intention.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I really like how it turned out. I recommend you make (or continue to make) a fleet in this style.

Now that the ship's completely armed...

Image
The Harbinger class Battleship, a name that well suits this ship, is the most powerful warship in the Commonwealth fleet. It boasts a tremendous amount of firepower that can make short work of any previously dated ship of its class.

Image
The Commonwealth's main focus is releasing tremendous amounts of firepower, and this ship does just that. With 32 micro-missile launchers the Harbinger can launch a full-strike consisting of 512 micro-missiles, which is both devastating and almost impossible to intercept. The five sets of PULSAR beam arrays give the ship a deadly defense against a large number of targets.

Image
Like the Orion Assault Destroyer, the Harbinger houses a leathal particle lance cannon, which can mean certain death to nearly anything it faces, but requires three minutes to recharge, making a miss or an ineffective attack fatal.

Looks like a submarine, a very large, spacefaring submarine. Uber cool! The main cannon bothers me though.

It doesn't look so flat with Surfaces on, and it looks a lot more solid, and it is cliche.

[20:13] <Exe> Ah yes.
[20:13] <Exe> Some proper nasty section use there, again the concentration is too much on the ship's overall shape.
[20:14] <MC> I don't think Spoot intended for anyone to carefully inspect his section usage.
[20:14] <Anna> Fuck "careful inspection". At a casual glance I hate it. :|
[20:14] <MC> Overuse of outlining. Period.
[20:15] <Exe> Exactly, it's just plain messy, anything thrown together to make the overall ship profile
...
[20:16] <Anna> Overuse of outlining? Maybe. Even the general shape and section usage sucks, though. :|
Kind of self-explanatory. :?

Yeah, I always figured I should've stopped altogether but I felt like I could try making something different from my Spoot ships.

I would disagree, I think that this ship does look good. The internals are passable (except for the canards, those were a good idea but the insides suck) but the outlining gives it a very sleek feel, and makes it look three-dimensional. Using the layers as contour lines, it is easy to envision how it would look in real life. Not to mention, the weapon placement has been improved vastly since Spoot's early ships. Its a different style from the usual, to be sure, but I personally like it.

I just like that its elongated and I really like the 'fins'. Beyond that, not qualified to say much, but I liked the internal structure of your blue ships. Perhaps Try different outlines, sans the black and highlighting, and go for the detail that helped make your older ships great, without the same old shape and color scheme.

Good shape. The outlining assaults the eye, though. Keep up with the fourth revision! The Crusader only falls to Cruise missiles! CRUISE MISSILES! I can't kill it AT ALL! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGG

don't give in to the pressure. keep making awesome ships like these. the outlining adds a lot to the ship IMO, but the canards and nose section aren't quite as good as the rest of the ship.

use of orange outlining on the nose looks sort of out of place.

otherwise a great ship. :D
