The Xi'Rei Armada (Really big ship Pg. 3)

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

The Xi'Rei Armada (Really big ship Pg. 3)

Post by Fuiste »

IF YOU'RE WONDERING WHERE THE OLD THREAD WENT, I TURNED IT INTO A FLEET THREAD.

Every Iryian citizen hears the tale of the Xi'Rei when they are a child. It's a common fable told to frighten the young, a fantastic story of an invincible armada with ships made of solid obsidian which descend from the heavens for to smite worlds that have lost their love for the Iryian crown.

The story goes that long ago there was a great war. A war of truly epic proportions between Iryians and the obsidian ships. The Iryians were losing badly, and barring a miracle would soon see their young empire erased from the pages of history. In a reckless gambit, the current king, Johannes Fontaine (Direct descendant of William Fontaine) left the empire in search of an old ship of lore known only as The Undying. He was gone for many a day, which turned into many a week and many a month. Years passed, and the war raged on, until the Xi'Rei had pushed Iryia back to its home world. Surrounded and defenceless, the Iryians were beset with hopelessness, but help was just in time.

It is said that as the first obsidian ship let loose an orbital bombardment shell, a colossal ship jumped directly into the middle of their fleet. The ship was almost phoenix-like in appearance, and was painted in the signature Iryian orange, yellow, and red. The people rejoiced as the ship opened fire on the Xi'Rei, cutting a great swath of destruction across their fleet. Johannes Fontaine had returned with the Undying! The final battle raged on for days, with neither side showing an obvious advantage. Finally, however, it became apparent Johannes was outgunned, and in a valiant effort to save his empire, he used the Undying's massive reactor power to create a temporary black hole, (Fuck realism) which consumed the entire Xi'Rei armada, but with it the Undying. To this day, however, the take is told as a cautionary warning to children to have faith in their empire, for as soon as their resolve falters, the Xi'Rei will once again descend from the heavens with their fearsome obsidian ships.

(This is a WIP, only 5 ships as of yet.)

THE OBSIDIAN SHARD:
Image
The smallest Xi'Rei craft. Lacks the speed of other fleets' fighters, but more than makes up for it with heavy armor and powerful weaponry.

THE OBSIDIAN BLADE:
Image
Beam artillery frigate. Can deal out massive amounts of damage from long range, and has minor deflector capabilities, but lacks the speed of the Shard and has very limited firing arcs.

THE INFERNAL TOUCH:
Image
The Xi'Rei short ranged brawler craft. It may only have a single gun, but it can be deadly. Compensates for short range with more deflectors and heavier armor.

THE PIERCING RAIN:
Image
A medium carrier of sorts. Sports an advantage over other carriers with defense weaponry and high agility, but lacks deflector capabilities.

THE NEVERMORE:
Image
A deadly Xi'Rei juggernaut. Excels at ranged combat, but can be used in almost any situation. Boasts higher agility than most titan-class ships.

More to be added soon...

It looks REALLY cool til you get to the back... wher it kinda... just... ends... Maybe put some more detail on the back? I'd like to see it point or curve around like a water drop, you know what I mean?
Other wise it's really cool looking... Doubt it can take the Armored Fist though, buddeh. Kiddin'. :}

I have to second the motion, stern looks a little....empty, compared to the rest of the ship, love the shield effects, however.

Almost, just make the engine and engine exhaust line smaller.

Much better. Quite a pleasant ship, unique style too.

My only gripe is that the color/glow scheme seems to be recently overused.

Idea: Make it even more streamlined? As in, somewhat fill the gaps between the stuts extending on the sides, giving the whole ship a smooth silguette, but still leaving some negative space between the edges and the main body.

Oh, and in my humble opinion, this style is definately worth escalating into a fleet. Even if the ships in said fleet will be huge.

This is funny. I came up with a similar style* (much smaller and simplistiker, not worth to show) the last coule of days. I was trying to make a counter fleet. However that ship looks like it would fit very good as the flag ship for what I was making.

However I really like that ship from the looks. it seems too powerful for what I would be personally aiming but that is no thing to judge. Keep it up man!

*meaning the pointy front with the hole and the many wingy things. also the back as it is updated.

Aight, I made it a bit more streamlined and cleaned up the back a bit. I'd say she's done now. Maybe I'll make more like this. 'Fact, I think I will, whenever I decide to get off my ass and crank out a fleet. Could be cool.

The rear of the ship doesn't flow well, in my opinion. It looks to jagged and straight-lined.

Your wish is my command. Though it's far from a finished fleet, I decided to make some of the smaller ships, namely a fighter, a frigate, and a close-range brawler type thingy. Haven't decided on a name yet, but...

THE OBSIDIAN SHARD:
Image
Ranged superiority fighter. Less maneuverable than the fighters of other fleets, but much more heavily armored and deadly.

THE OBSIDIAN BLADE:
Image
Beam artillery frigate. High damage and decent defense coupled with decent agility make this shit invaluable on the battlefield.

THE OBSIDIAN AXE:
Image
Don't be deceived by its appearance, the obsidian axe is able to completely saturate a target with inferno tachyons at close range. It makes up for the need to be close to an enemy with its heavy armor and deflectors.

I'm thinking that this fleet's going to be based around the same concept of ancient Spartan warriors, in that one can win a battle with fewer but better trained, or in this case more powerful, warriors. Their ships will be powerful, but not very numerous. I see them favoring mostly ballistic artillery and beam weapons, with few missiles and automatic guns except on the most powerful ships. All their ships will probably be fairly agile too, but lacking in the speed of some other fleets.

Wow those are nice designs! I like the shapes and your colour outlines!

Just a question for curiosity's sake though, do you input custom HP for your sections or just let the builder input its default ones?
