The Gray Wolves

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

The Gray Wolves

Post by RazorBack123 »

I've only been had Battleships forever a couple of days but i've been kinda inspired by the ships and backgrounds members of this forum have thought of so i decided to try my own (though i'm no artist or author)

The Gray Wolves: When Humanity first discovered faster then light travel we did two things, explore and colonize. We sent 3 sleeper ships of our best and brightest to the nearest habitable planet, lightyears away. one of the ships was lost to the void, and another was thrown wildly off course and collided with an asteroid belt in a young and lifeless system. They spent the next 126 years adapting to the vacuum and life inside their hollowed out lumps of rock, focusing all their energy on the advancement of technology because of the lack of easily accessible resources in the surrounding asteroids. As a result, when the stranded reconnected with the rest of the human species, they had few ships, but each was designed to be effective solo and deadly in co-ordinated attacks with twice the weapons on each ship compared to their ancestors counterparts. The stranded announced their independence. They earned a good reputation early on in the conflict since they never attacked civilian ships and sometimes in tactically reckless acts, protected the enemies civilians from their own government. Since then, with the arrival of aliens and a common enemy, the stranded or "Gray Wolves", named after the animal which shares many similar tactical traits with them, have developed an almost mercenary like relationship with the earth government, though often fighting only for morals and ideas of freedom (i really only named them gray wolves 'cause i can't think of any other name)

Ships: These are overpowered since they are "technologically advanced" but i did my best to balance them against the stock ships

These are the Constant class light frigate escorting the Remorseless class battleship. The Constant was the only ship i originally designed to work with another, since the Remorseless is completely open to attack from the back, which results in a devastating and quick death

This is the Dependable class miniature battleship. It has enough shields and weapons to stop a full battleship in it's tracks, while retaining maneuverability and speed. One good shot with a beamer to the front or back without shields and it's finished though

This is the Enduring class fast destroyer. Based on the Sinope, it combines good speed with moderate firepower in a cheap ship. Defense is terrible but a good pilot can dodge the most damaging stuff

The Indisputable is a beam destroyer, designed primarily to combat aliens (those impeders where annoying me), it has below average defense but can dish out a some serious damage. Note, apart from the Constant which was meant to work with the Remorseless, this lasted the shortest time in the grinder alone, dieing just after level 6

The Imperturbable is a battle station with heavy guns and defense, but it does have to blind spots on the sides where a light ship can just hang until the shields go down and then open up with the heavy guns

Criticism and improvements are welcome for the story and ships
