Well here it is. My biggest ship so far.
Nyx Super Dreadnought

Hehe, as you can see from the parent structure if one of those large blocks near the rear is destroyed the entire out hull will peel off in the resulting explosion.

A little size comparison. This ship is large but it's actually quite beautifully to watch in action.
The Ship File!
The Ship Blueprint for SM2 Feel free to customize it with your own weapons load out.
Flag Zero - My other large ship.
My fleet.

Interesting ship. Good idea with the white details under blue structure. Im not a fan of color scheme, though.
Oh, and for screenshots, change the glow to a shade of grey and disable gradient
EDIT: Oh yeah, and its balanced, didnt notice! Bonus points for that.

Ah, another balanced beast! I think I'm beginning to love you. It's actually probably a lot more balanced than mine are now - I decided on three different design philosophies for three different empires/fleets and ended up customizing a lot of weapons. I also had to balance the Noonwraith against the second ship. I'm not sure if the Noonwraith is even with the Flag Zero any more.

Thanks for the tips on the ship glow. I may have to try that. It does kind of wash out the color scheme in that screen shot although it's not as much of an issue when you see it in action.

Thanks a lot! I look forward to seeing your other projects.

Cool looking, but it strikes me as very fragile... there's barely any armor covering the core.
Of course, that might have been the intention. >.>

Well fragile can be quite relative. In comparison to stock ships this thing is a monster. I did buff the HP on those support braces directly in front of the core but only by around 20-30% more than the overall ship's HP but in the end I think it lends more balance when there are weak points to exploit. Also to take out the core form the front is no easy task. You'd need quite a brute to get in there and take the punishment needed to do so. But yeah, it's not supposed to be quite that invulnerable.

Eh, If I were you I'd put far more weapons pointing towards the inside of the ship, so you can surround a ship and blow it sky-high ^.^

The Nyx Super Dreadnought eats an SSF Cruiser, but the SFF Heavy Cruiser managed to eat at its weak points before it's face was destroyed. The Nyx Super Dreadnought has one armor plate in front of each beam that holds the whole arm sections together... if you can move them and put some other piece there, I would. That darn SSF Heavy Cruiser blasted one off and then the Nyx Super Dreadnought tried to back off, and it blasted the other and then went after the core.
It made me think the SSF Heavy Cruiser was too powerful, but maybe that one change would alter the outcome.
That said, I like the ship. Play with the color a bit. I love how it's strategy is to envelope and consume... you should play with that more.

First, Black and Blue = Win.
Second, the catamaran hull design is awesome, and so are the engines. It manages to maintain a sleek, yet rough design scheme that is quite appealing.

Okay, nothing to radical here but here is a slightly buffed version it modified after listening to some peoples' input. I played against the Nyx with my other large ship, the Flag Zero, and I tried to take out the Nyx's core from the front. It was close but in the end the Nyx survived. Just a little more firepower and she'd have been destroyed.
The Nyx Super Dreadnought after sustaining heavy damage from a battle enemy forces.
(Note, this isn't an actual screen cap after the battle but it's pretty close to the type of damage that resulted.)
After reviewing the damage to part of the Nyx's main support brace engineers seriously considered decommissioning and scrapping the entire ship due to the repair costs, difficulties, and risk of structural failure. However in the end it was decided that the Nyx represents too large an investment to dismantle for scrap. In the end all armor plating was removed so that a massive repair project could be undertaken to fix the main brace.
After the repairs were completed some additional armor plating was added and the Nyx was outfitted with additional inward facing short range scatter beams.
Nyx Super Dreadnought II
Actually still I need to do another battle to see how much these changes improve the outcome. I'm resisting the urge to over load the hull and make the ship too strong.

Uh... No. Not at all. At all. Stop playing halo. Try other games (Hell, even Halo 2 is better than halo 3... Try Enemy Territiories, Quake wars!)

Yes, please keep her balanced. It is easy to say a lot, it's hard to say a little. Similarly, it's easy to overload your ship with guns.
I'll try her out again tonight, just make sure the ZIP or RAR is up to date.
