Almost done with my section. So far I've made minor appearance tweaks, extended the nose out a bit, made minor reconstructions for parenting purposes, added an extra pair of large engines and a main engine, made use of the auxiliary housings Verminator added, tweaked the engine colour, added thrusters -under- aegis, added advised placement of weapons, and a few other things. I centerlined the section 13, but it'll be hard to select for weapon mounting, so I advise that sections be nudged out of the way temporarily so that it can be selected, then replaced once that is done.

Note that the plasma torpedoes are not, in fact, plasma torpedoes. Basically the reactors and engines generate a lot of hazardous byproducts as they process the fuel and so on. There is one launcher for every two thrusters.
These hazardous byproducts are pumped off into special torpedo bays near the engines and pumped into hollow torpedo cases, which are then loaded into the special launchers and fired at enemies.
It's economical and ecological (at least for us; not so much for poor bastard on the recieving end), as well as highly deadly, as the enemy ship's hull is coated with corrosive, toxic and radioactive sludge.
The acidic contents erode hull plating whilst the radiation emitted during the initial phases of impact can seriously interfere with the sensitive electronics of modern weapons. Due to the contents, however, flight time is unpredictable, and no guidance system can be used.
The launchers and blasters are unmodded, currently, and can be balanced with the rest of the ship once it is completed. At this point it will probably be pointless to add any kind of spinal gun without;
1) Extending the hull out considerably, which would require moving the entire structure back to account for the current core location.
2) Reconstructing the entire forward hull, or at least very carefully modifying it for the gun, which probably wouldn't be a good idea.
I do not place any faith whatsoever in Commodore111's ability to add any additional structure to the ship without screwing it up entirely.
IMO, quite frankly, the hull is almost finished, apart from the final pieces of the nose.
