Definitely an intriguing ship to say the least, however my first impression upon looking at this massive ship of yours is "Is that really finished?' and "Whats that massive glow under the ship for?"
To me the ship itself has a lot going for it yet some of the things have not been capitalized on.
For instance, more detail could have been added to the overall structure of the ship in the form of doodads or differently colored sections in place of the massive glows underneath the ship.
I understand that you might have intended to show off the complex structure of the ship itself but that should have easily been achieved by placing a sun in the background.
Another point is that the WF sections seem to have far too little detail as compared to the other parts of the ship. Though I can also understand why you would be reluctant to do so seeing as your section count is already quite large.
Section usage is fairly good, even if most techniques have been used and seen before. As Anna has said you can improve upon your design work.
The issue with the colors has been mentioned time and time again, so I don't see a need to reinforce that point.

So in a nutshell, the ship is good, very good by the most recent standards. However it could have been so much more. Work on the points mentioned and you will certainly go very far in shipbuilding.

Also, to the question, he made them in MSPaint or Photoshop and used them as sections via "Import Section Sprite" feature in the Tool dropdown menu.
