The Schkrin Extrasolar Navy

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

I have finished another ship, this one is an important once, and has a long history behind it.

thousands of years ago, during the first war with the Venerans, the Schkrin were losing badly, in an attempt to turn the tide of battle all of their efforts were put into creating one ship, this vessel became know as the Naglfar, and was the most massive Schkrin craft ever made.
Although the Veneran Hive, and worldships were larger, the Naglfar was by far more powerful. sporting an immensely powerful gravitonic projection cannon it was one of the most powerful ships to ever fly. It was said that the sound of its passing could be heard through the vacuum of space, because the ship was so large it sent out ripples through the very fabric of space.
The Naglfar was influential in the war effort, destroying three Hives and punching a hole through the Veneran lines, but before it could be brought to bear on the Veneran worldship it was attacked by four hives at once while undergoing minor repairs at the Mezikota Station, it fought off two of the hives from in the dock and destroyed a third even as the docks were torn apart around it by a hail of plasma and energy lances. Heavily damaged the ship barely managed to jump clear of the battle. But it failed to meet at the rendezvous point. The ship was never seen again, but rumors of its existence abound, many explorers dream of finding it, treasure hunters seek it, pilots seeking fame and fortune have turned their bows into the dark corners of the spiral arm searching for the ship.
But it was never found.
It has been rumored to have been seen at major fleet engagements, floating just beyond sensor range, or hanging near a battle site like a wraith in the darkness. It has also strangely cropped up as a local myth on dozens of planets including Earth, why and how this has happened remains unseen.
One instance it was supposedly seen was at the battle of the Hells Forge Nebula, when the Venerans launched a huge battlefleet at the planet of Hells Forge, a major mining world, where over 30% of the Schkrin construction materials came from.
Igniting the nebula that nestled the planet, the inhabitants were sent scrambling as the atmosphere began to boil away. The meager defensive forces were unable to hold back the huge force of Veneran troops, and their hulls were unsuited to the heat and rolling fires that engulfed the planet. The fires hit a dense protostar igniting it and causing it to explode as the gravity had not reached sufficient strength to hold it together. But when all hope seemed lost the Veneran ships vanished into the fires. When the pyre died down all that was found was burned wreckage and strange trace radiation from weapons long forgotten. To this day, the legend lives on...

You see, this is what happens when I have too much time on my hands, I stay up till 3 AM making a frakking huge manta ray:

I got the idea from that huge skeleton that someone posted but I built this from scratch. I was originally going to build off the skeleton but it didn't work out, so I just started slapping pieces together.
it has over 1000 pieces in it, not counting weapons, I think the best way to describe this ship is having a
Gratuitous Amount of parts

Proof that extensive use of a single part does NOT make ugly ships.

It doesn't always make ugly ships. Ninety-nine times out of a hundred, however, it will. Tsakara does a fairly damn good job of repeating one or two sections over and over again, but I think if he expanded the number of sections used, he could probably make something even better.

Edit: You did a damn good job with this ship, but the parenting could probably use a little work. It seems that if you destroy one or two layers of armour near the base of the "wing" bits, it results in the entire wing section going KA-BOOM! Which I doubt it's meant to do. Unless that was intentional, in which case, nevermind.

-Nitpick-

How could it be seen if it was beyond sensor range? Those must be pretty bad sensors.

sensor jamming in the middle of a battle, or no ones pointing the sensors the right direction.

EDIT: Oh and the chain reaction points were unintended but are kind of necessary, there is no way you'd be able to blast through all that armor unless you had some kind of superweapon, so having chain points makes it not totally invincible. besides they only will blast off parts of the surface of the wing, I was careful enough not to maike the entire unit destroyed if one thing blows up.

That is the most beautiful and the most terrifying ship I have EVER seen in my life, sir.

A HUGE FREAKING BIG BAD GLIDING SPACE-TIME-BENDING MANTA RAY! BEHOLD!

Edit: Sir, if you just please add in a big megaweapon in the centre, I'll be extremely pleased. I feel that the weapons are a bit too wimpy for a ship which has destroyed 3 Veneran hives and the Veneran homeworld.

yeah the megabeamers have a 1 minute charge time but will do 200 damage when activated.

Now give it a blue colour and call it an Ion Cannon. :P

No, wait... that's my idea.

So...they plow through enemy ships and rip them apart using concentrated gravity?
