The Ships of Seraphim Industries - Last Updated 12/23/07

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Also, i haven't see any 1000000000000000 hp 3000000000 max speed with 231541 acceleration 9999999999 shockbeamers titans around that actually looked decent. Titans are meant to fight titans. But more so just for their look.
Who's talking about balance? I'll not even talking about balance with stock ships or any others. I'm talking about logic in design. The ship has to make sense in it's own universe (not necesarrily the BSF universe)

As RL and simple logic tell you, making any machine of war is a blancing act. You want more armor?..K, but that means more mass. If you want to keep the speed you'll need bigger engines...which will require more power...which will have to take from the guns...etc...it's a vicious circle
Ever seen that move about the Bradely ARPC/tank..whatever that thing was?

It's just simple logic that tells you can't have everything on a ship. Super beamz of doom? Cool, I don't mind. But where does it get the power for those beams AND the shields AND the engines? Something has to be sacrificed. That's my only beef with most titans. Nothing else.
.Well the Velvet Hammer uses a PSG reactor. PSG = Point singularity generator. So Power is not an issue.

.It uses a low-pile version of the ablative armor that other IVL warships use, meaning lower added mass then normal.

.And it's not exactly the fastest ship on the block.

I can't account for other's ships.

It gets power from the beams, shields, and engines (from an in-universe standpoint) from individual reactors powering each section of the ship. The engines have their own reactors, beams have their own reactors, and shielding has their own reactors.

Of course, if you actually downloaded the Elson/Hood classes and compared them to other supercapitals - Elson/Hood both have speed 0.6 while similarly classed ships (Velvet Hammer 2, Kratos, ad nauseam) actually have higher speed than the Elson. And the Elson is a less powerful ship. (But the Elson is also much more highly passively armoured.)

Two new ships, although one is just a tiny little fighter.

The first is the A1 Slipfighter. Technically, it's an unmanned heavy assault drone, but it's called a Slipfighter due to the fact... well, I stole the name from Andromeda. Sue me.

Download the A1 Slipfighter.

And next is the Quaero Aequitas. Very loosely translated, it means "Pursuit of Justice". This is a nod to the song of the same name, by Cycerin, to which I have become addicted.

Download the Quaero Aequitas

And here's a pic of the High Guard Battlefleet, as it stands:

Yes, I get that.
Just one question - from you own universe standpoint, a ship as big as Nelson that dumps all it's power into one giant beams should then be able to shread the Nelson with 1 hit, no?
Assuming the overall total power available is equal, the beam should use all of the X reactor to power the beam, while the Nelson would defend with only X/N reactors.
Simple law of action and reaction..

922. That's just counting sections, not weapons and modules too.

So Seraph, will this style be your main lovechild or will there be foreseeable ships in the future of a different light? It is by far (one of) the most distinguished style I've seen so far.

P.S. I would kindly ask fellow forumers to quickly wrap up this balance talk, you're staining Seraph's thread.

The High Guard fleet can merge together!

It really does resemble some sort of giant mecha head, though.

Heh... so it does. I never actually noticed that, and it certainly wasn't intentional... looks kind of like Iron Man's mask.

Oh my... they all do resemble some nasty alien heads or helmets. Well, bonus points for that :)

Don't get me started on how insanely powerful some of the Culture ships are.
They have a perfectly good reason for that though..... They draw their energy from a realm of infinite energy, the only limiting factor is how much they can handle without melting/destroying in a spectacular explosion/burning out the component.
