I think Aralonia is the first to actually say that, thats refreshing.

IMO, its just another example of how when in groups, humans are idiots/sheep and follow the leader.

Katar-I and II class ships accompanying a Kurukshetra cruiser. Katar-Is are older model craft without the radiator appendages developed in the Kurukshetra project. Katar-IIs can throw a much heavier missile broadside but are otherwise essentially the same.

Light cruiser in the vein of the last few ships I've done, this time in Shipmaker 3. Parvati-class beam cruisers are actually most effective from their forward aspect. They feature a slightly smaller version of the heavy forward torpedo tubes, with a five round salvo. These ships are best used to bombard enemy targets and harass damaged enemy capital ships. Parvati-class craft are very maneuverable and nimble, so when confronted with overwhelming force it is best for captains to retreat.
Featuring excellent point defense for their size, and a decent complement of short range pulse weapons, Parvati CLs are typically employed as escorts.

Doodads yay!!!
Beautifull ship, and nice work with the missiles. I would suggest you to use custom color on the sections, so they would be the same to anyone dowloading it.

The Kumbhakarna-class Dreadnought has a heavily armored double hull and mounts a pair of experimental weapons. Instead of forward torpedo launchers, the Kumbhakarna-class mounts a pair of prototype "Flash Beamers", firing a broad spread of high power long range energy blasts. Since they are not interceptable like modern torpedoes and spread out they are most effective for use against flotillas of smaller ships.
Kumbhakarna-class ships also have a rear torpedo launcher and a number of heavy beam cannons. Usually deployed with an escort of Parvati and Kurukshetra-class cruisers.
NOTE: Playing around with the beam and weapon colors and stats. I'll make everything more consistent soon.

A bit more progress in this vein. I think soon I gotta get off my bum so to speak and redo the Katar and Kurukshetra in SM3. While I'm at it, I suppose I should probably make the weapons consistent between the ships.
So, moving on past housework, here's a shot of all I've gotten done so far. It's definately a parade formation doing exercises near a moon, which is why there's only one ship of each major capital class so far completed displayed. Really, I just barely could fit the ships in as it is![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)

And presenting two new medium sized ships, tentatively called cruisers:
The Tvashtar-refit of the Parvati-class, featuring heavy cannons capable of constant accurate bombardment instead of the Parvati-class's beamers.
![Image](http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/248/bfscreen08in8.th.png)
Top is Parvati, bottom is Tvashtar. Once I get the whole fleet worked up, I'll go back to the Tvashtar and spruce it up, make it a bit different. Possibly swap out the missiles for assault cannons. As of now, the Tvashtar is a prototype for new weapons.
And now, the Sanaatana-class cruiser, with a mixed armament and an unusual weapons dispersal. Instead of mounting the engines along the beam of the ship, the Sanaatana has a "double-headed" design, with torpedo pods on both the front and the rear. Additionally, the Sanaatana is idealized for a heavy bombardment role, using assault cannons and projectile weapons to swamp enemy defenses. Also of note is the nonstandard forward facing missile bays, unlike the usual broadsides. The Sanaatana pays for its firepower by being quite slow and by having engines vulnerable to sniping.

Two of them tooling around an asteroid belt. Probably looking for a particularly big rock to smash with their guns.
I'm having a bit of a pain with the BSF ship upload thingy, so for all of you who (ha!) download my ships, hang loose. Soon I'll get links up.

That's actually an interesting question. In my own personal opinion (I'd like to repeat this just to make sure it sinks in: In my own personal opinion) I think stock balancing is probably the most reliable way to make multiple fleets fair. It's far from the only way though.
Having more than a little experience in the field, I'd like to take a moment to start explaining some stuff. Balancing vs. a stock fleet gets really, really complicated when you're balancing ships with more than a hundred sections, because none of the stock ships are that big. Well, you can get around the raw HP problems if you want to keep a tight 1:1 of battleship to battleship, but there's other issues. When you lose a section, your ship gets juggled backwards. If I have five times as many sections with one fifth the hitpoints, I'm getting juggled five times as hard. This can be an enormous pain in the ass to get around, which is why my Faladhi fleet, which IS stockbalanced to the best of my abilities and patience, has ships rated as more expensive and bigger than stock vessels. Faladhi dreads are stockbalanced, but not against single Cronus, but more like 2 Cronus and a Hestia-Alpha.
So in a nutshell, it's in my opinion almost completely impossible to actually stockbalance on a one for one, battleship to battleship, PT to PT basis with ships that have more than two or three time as many sections as their stock equivelants. This current fleet's probably going to be considerably more powerful than the Faladhi fleet, but won't go over a thousand HP/section. One of the influential experiences in my life was when I was designing a simple game system with a friend and starting HP was about 10000 and starting damage about 100. My friend took one look and said "that's very nice, but if you divided all the numbers by 100 what would change?" Pretty quickly, I figured out nothing at all would, and ever since I've preferred to keep numbers as low as possible while still being convenient (0.0003 damage per shot is not convenient) and consistent. So to make a long story short, in your oversimplified system, I'm going for "above-stock".
If you had taken the time to download any of the ships in the series, you could have rapidly made this conclusion for yourself.

Went into SM3 and redid the Kurukshetra. .85e (I... think?) Sb3 and shp available here: http://www.wyrdysm.com/battleshipsforev ... rafull.rar
There's little point in uploading a screenie, as ... well, there already are some. There's been a few tweaks, and added doodads and such.
And for the ships I showed off last time, sb3s and shps both:

and
http://www.wyrdysm.com/battleshipsforev ... aatana.rar
enjoy!
