HighComedy's Ships

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

The hull of my next ship, the Stalingrad, is complete. Weapons and modules are pending:

The completed Stalingrad "B" variant clearing its way through an asteroid field

After some consideration, extra superdense armor plating was added to the flanks of the original Stalingrad's hull to allow it to better serve its role as a broadside combatant. Extensive weapon testing has been done against ships of its comparable class and the end result is the Stalingrad "B" model, the "A" model being a prototype reserved for internal testing. The Stalingrad, named after the famous meatgrinder battle of World War II, is not a fancy ship and it lacks the Alexander's excessive firepower, trading it for a durability unprecedented in all of HC-Tech's previous vessels. Each of its side ablative armor plates are rated to be as tough as the ship itself, and eight nanomatrices with improved repair range hold the line in extended engagements.

Armament List:
8X Strangelet Torpedo Batteries - Upon impact, these highly volatile missiles release a cloud of catalytic strangelets constructed out of exotic quarks that convert regular matter into strange matter, causing a chain reaction which spreads through the target until the unstable strangelets decay into pure energy. Needless to say, very nasty if they manage to connect.
4X Nova Beamers - Firing many energy streams that swamp an entire arc of space, these are the same weapons found on the Alexander, except with improved range.
10X Plasma Accelerators - Releases an endless stream of high-energy plasma globules. These are the Stalingrad's primary broadside weapons.
10X Cluster Muon Accelerators - Another weapon first deployed on the Alexander, these cannons release a spray of relativistic cosmic particles.
12X Gatling Cannons - relatively low-caliber, short-ranged weapons, they fire a shower of dense slugs at targets that get too close.
20X Intermediate-range Point Defense Batteries - These are tasked with intercepting hostiles projectiles with a barrage of explosive shells. They often have enough range to neutralize enemy projectiles as soon as they leave their deliver systems, entirely suppressing an enemy vessel's non-beam firepower.
8X Interdiction Emitters - integral to the Stalingrad's side plating.
12X Duplex Demeter Launch Bays

A bonus ship for fun!
The SUPERNOVA DEVICE is a one-use bomb that when triggered, creates a tremendous burst of energy that can annihilate almost every single enemy ship in the entire combat theater. Do not use when discretion is required.

Captured here is the aftermath of the Supernova Device's detonation, which was barely contained by a circle of 25,000hp shield ships.

Holy shit! That thing is massively powerful! Worse is it can 'detonate' multiple times as well for a hard kill on anything. An Enterprise-refit Waverider got annihilated instantly. My Death Blossom II at max range can kill it quickly, but not before irreparable damage to its forward Seraphim Shields.

Next up: Hypercube!

EDIT: Hypercube survived multiple detonations by two Supernova Devices long enough to destroy both.

Maybe Petey can withstand it next...

EDIT: Petey ate FOUR SDs right in the face; sustaining severe damage as several layers of hull armor and the entirety of both launch-bay complexes were boiled away. Main weapons were still operational after all the damage.

I'd like the sb2 plans for it so I can make a more well-shielded version. I'm thinking multilayered Seraphim Deflectors

Also, it's very vulnerable to Lancet Beams. That might be trouble for any number of SDs less than two.

Here you go. The Supernova Device has a range of 3000 but only an AI engagement range of 1000 - it's definitely meant to be detonated by hand. I intentionally left it quite fragile because it is meant to be a one-use bomb. If you're letting if fire more than once, you're doing something wrong.

It was what, one atom of hydrogen per 44 cubic metres? So if you have sound with amplitude of a few hundred metres I suppose you could propagate the "wave"... a little bit.

In other news, the HC-Tech shipyards have finally settled on a consistent design philosophy, technology base and naming scheme. In response to this, the former Alexander II Dreadnought has been renamed the Kursk-class Dreadnought, and its specifications have been brought in line with the Stalingrad-class. The Stalingrad Dreadnought will also form the basis and the current flagship of HC-Tech, all future ship classes being scaled down accordingly with this vessel.*

*The official HC-Tech definition of a 'Dreadnought' class warship is a vessel of supernal size of firepower above that of a battleship, although a popular informal definition among the shipyard crews is 'one of the Director's ego projects'.

I've gotta say, HC, I love the design of the Kursk. It looks so damn awesome, while at the same time looking very chunky and blocky. Damn fine work.
