Well, I'm well into the judging. Got about 60% of all of it done: I'll release 'em all at once.
EDIT: Oh yeah, it mysteriously started working after I had WC3 up at the same time I booted up BSF.
Works all the time now.

SCORES WILL BE ADJUSTED AS I FINISH THE BACKSTORY PART. RIGHT NOW I JUST DON'T LIKE LOOKING ALL OVER THE PLACE FOR THEM.
Taken from Anna:
Ananke Sparrow by derekiv
--- Aesthetics: 6/10

--- Creativity: 3/10
--- Functionality: 1/5
--- Backstory: <COMING>
Total: 15/40
Comments: When I looked at this ship, I tried to put myself in the creator’s shoes. I can easily see where the concept came from, but in a tournament like this: originality is needed. Done many times before, this particular bird creation failed at certain aspects in comparison with its predecessors. My major issue - the part that really irks me - is the repetitive copy and paste technique used to flesh out the bird. Just in the wings, the same exact piece was used over and over: same section, size, and shape. Also, when using Aegis, you have to realize that the glowing effect really emphasizes the piece, drawing attention. When these pieces are just placed without any design, just to be shields, then it really highlights the bad parts of the ship. Aesthetics: 6/10 for a nice overall look. Originality: at least 5/10 for a... unique overall design. Done to death though. Creativity: 3/10 for repetitive use of pieces. Functionality: 1/5. For half hearted attempt at unique weapons. Feel lucky that you didn’t get 0. The ship CAN’T EVEN FUCKING MOVE in the game.

--- Backstory: <COMING>

Comments: WARNING, WARNING: CORRUPTED FILE. REFER TO SCREEN SHOTS. No initial criticisms, so we head straight to the point breakdown. Aesthetics: 6/10 for an above average look, if slightly discombobulated. Originality: Nothing groundbreaking, but atleast never done before, earning a slightly above average 6/10. Creativity: 7/10. Very creative use of pieces. Could have been better in my personal opinion, but creative nonetheless. Functionality: 4/5. Unique role, great ship to play with. Refreshing to have a deflector-less ship once in a while.

Comments: Uhhh... Sure? This looks like somebody’s first creation in the Ship Maker, starting with the oh-so-unoriginal design and ending with the placing of completely and totally random weapons. Aesthetics: 4/10 for not being ugly, even though it’s not actually pretty. Originality: 4/10. After much debate, I finally settled with this just because it isn’t copied, however so little idea was put into its design. Creativity: If randomness was creativity, then this ship would have taken home the gold. Since it isn’t, it settles with 2/10. Functionality: 3/5. This ship was actually pretty fun to play with, if only because of its diverse array of weapons (and it can move!).
Geisberg Fortress by goduranus
--- Aesthetics: 7/10
--- Originality: 8/10
--- Creativity: 6/10
--- Functionality: 4/5
--- Backstory: <COMING>
Total: 25/40
Comments: From humble beginnings, the Geisberg Fortress grew to become one of the most original stations I have yet to see on these forums. What really docked points was the seemingly random placement of filler material: it just would have been that much more beautiful with an intricate layout. However, I thought it was really unique the way that no outer ring section was repeated, giving it that oh-so realistic appearance. Aesthetics: 6/10 for an easily appealing ship, and the randomness of the center did give it that certain quality of mesmerization... Originality: Great concept, beginning with the core layout and ending with the unique design of the outer ring for a nice 8/10. Creativity: 6/10. The overall design could have been much better pulled off with different sections in certain places (especially looking at the filler material). Functionality: Neither tremendously fun nor unique to play with, the lack of secondary weapons really made me disappointed. A 4/5 for the idea of the Zues Cannon, however ugly it is for the few seconds of firing.

Comments: I would like to compare this piece of art to abstract: however wonderfully constructed and put together it might be, that does not necessarily mean that it is pretty. Really, it all comes down to personal preference. Very, very unique, and its weapons barrage is breathtaking (note: not giant white screen). Aesthetics: Although completely abstract, I felt that the weapons barrage justified my bringing up to an 8/10 score. Originality: Can’t argue with 9/10. Creativity: The one thing really hurting this 7/10 score is the use of those bland, iffy rectangle pieces. Functionality: 3/5. Very... fragile however, as if sudden deceleration would just rip the front right off with kinetic energy.

Comments: Pleasing to the eye, original design, and excellent use of pieces defines this vessel of war. With overlapping weapons, ablative sections, and exquisite engines and use of boosters, the Norien Elson is a work of art. Really excels at what it is. Aesthetics: Wonderful, a solid 7/10. Not even cluttered with weapons. Originality: However old the concept, this ship’s creator brought it into new light, scoring a 6/10. Creativity: 7/10 for the unique use of abovementioned pieces. Functionality: Solid design and great weapons loadout for a 5/5.

Comments: My immediate thought upon laying my eyes on this ship were memories of Transformers... and specifically so, that of the little parasitic boom box machine. The immense amounts of detail articulated in every square centimeter of those megamechs left me hoping for the same in the Ravana - and I was not disappointed. Just looking along the limbs of the Ravana I see pieces used every other turn to create that exotic, complex feeling. No section was placed without careful, specific attention. Aesthetics: 7/10. I know that it’s a beautiful ship in essence, but then again, this is a pretty subjective contest. I couldn’t really find any actual great attraction towards it: and therefore, it missed out where others gained. Originality: 7/10. I hate to dock off points here, but it just simply looks too much like the IVL ships. Due to this reason it was a 6/10, but then I took into consideration the entire idea of the ship, and I couldn’t give it anything lower than a 7/10. Creativity: This ship’s layout is fucking amazing. Not a single piece was placed that didn’t have a use. 9/10. Functionality: Kinda find it hard to believe that entire portions of the ship could be connected by a single circular joint. 3/5.

Comments: Unique shape and design, although I didn’t like how the front came out. The coloring could have been better: different utilization of inner sections could have really benefited this ship. However, the coloration DID break up the monotonous nose piece. Aesthetics: What really makes this ship what it is is the coloring. Without that, it would have been lost, and not deserving the 7/10. Originality: Very original, but nothing entirely explosive. 7/10. Creativity: Inside sections could have been better... However, the outside is very well done. 6/10. Functionality: 4/5 Solid as a brick.

Comments: My initial thoughts upon seeing this behemoth was that it was a rather unsuccessful attempt at combining two different styles of ship design. When looking at the fuselage of the ship (or rather the main body, given the size of this ship), it reminds me of the Space Shuttles of modern times. The one large body piece seems very out of place with the spiny, jagged pieces on the front and back, and the outcroppings on the side. Some weird layering leading and odd pieces appearing where they shouldn’t really cut down on the potential of this ship. Aesthetics: A 7/10 for being overall pleasing to the eye. Originality: Well, the design is untried, and the use of modules to make the Mjolnir cannon is unique. A 7/10. Creativity: Although the concept was nice, its execution was failed. However, some cool use of pieces in certain places gives it a 5/10. Functionality: 4/5 cause it’s a nice solid design.

Comments: Running right to left, bow to stern, the ship looks very promising... until you get to the tail end, and it all just falls apart. Bad proportioning throughout the ship really throws it off. It just didn’t impress me as much as some of her other ships did. Aesthetics: 5/10, or roughly average. My attention just keeps being drawn towards the tail end! Originality: 7/10. Quite original. In fact, original enough to be copied itself. Creativity: 6/10 for a apparent unwillingness to flesh out the interior. However, that is only on the wings: the rest is nicely laid out. Functionality: Another 4/5, this time for the Velvet Hammer.
