mines and suicide drones can be very fun to make and play, just can't really add modules to them as it does not work with the kamikaze AI setting generallyVerminator wrote:That's the first space mine I've seen. Props for something I've not seen before.
never could get my kamikazi drone to work right

tried to get them to fire weapons as it speeds towards its target then self destructs
you get an error message and the guns tend not to fire

still blows up nicely though

Though I don't remember where it was I have seen one other mine, it was a while back...looked like one of those stone crushing things on Mario...

Oh can it.
Yours doesn't even have colour, and has a dieterling, unlike the IVL one. Also, it's not easy to design mines. Trust me on this one. There are good shapes and bad shapes.
I've experimented with mines of varying sizes but due to slow part speeds they were almost worthless against anything other than a slow moving target. Detonated at the right time they'd annihilate a Zelus, but otherwise they were useless (apart from being able to seriously cripple capships) for the most part.

Well, an ordinary landmine on its own is like that. For the most part, the point of a mine isn't so they actually go and step on it and blow themselves up (although it's a bonus if they do) it's so that they either have to spend ages clearing the minefield or that thye have to go around it, potentially going where you can shoot at them.
On a secondary note, there are mines in the campaign, in Slaughterhouse. Get too close to Nagaya's battlestations and you get mined. I'd like to see them available to the player in some form in the next edition of BSF.

I have to kill fast and bullets are too slow.
Beh I prefer smart mines. You think their stationary and try to shoot at em and then they start flying at you and you like "OH SHIT!".Verminator wrote:Well, an ordinary landmine on its own is like that. Is this relevant to Lizzie's thread, or are you just blabbering away about your own personal experimentation which should be kept personal?Grenville wrote:im playing with mine and missile designs, its fun ^^
so far my prototype can only kill the lower end standard ships in the game, as soon as i add more shrapnel parts they will do more damage ^^

i was commenting on the mine discussion, lizzie's mine inspired me to try it myself and it was funMaster Chief wrote:Is this relevant to Lizzie's thread, or are you just blabbering away about your own personal experimentation which should be kept personal?Grenville wrote:im playing with mine and missile designs, its fun ^^

Yes there is. If you want to discuss on Lizzie's mines, don't come barging in with things like "oh look, my kkm is still so weak, i have to upgradez it". Contribute to the discussion, not go off-track about your own ships. This is Lizzie's thread, not yours.Grenville wrote:i was commenting on the mine discussion, lizzie's mine inspired me to try it myself and it was fun

And there. He goes. AGAIN. Srsly, watch the meddling! Lizzie is perfectly capable of chasing away annoying people herself. (Don't we all know that?) It's not your job.Master Chief wrote:Yes there is.
