Something big.

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

And you were planning on having this thing run at any decent framerate when it's done? xD
The core is beautiful, and the sectionwork is great, those orange glows look just a little out of place though.

Get rid of the fake aegis though. Some of the outlining could be scapped as well.
Fake aeigis is removed, but the outlining is jsut ablatives.

I'm planning to cut the hull and glows and stuff into single sections and just use those. the ship isn't exactly destructible like a BSF ship should be, but meh. it'll work.

I already removed the orange glows.

Thanks.

Oh damn. I smell a HOLY SHIP.

I liked the orange glows, but they did look out of place. I recommend using the bright orange as an accent color.

If you include glows and weapons and shit, a 1000 section ship will absolutely not work. Hell, a 600 section ship probably won't load.

The ship itself... the glowy reactor thing doesn't look too bad. The front of the ship is kind of messy though. Scrap the outlining and make the sections less dark.

Anna is right. don't waste your time building something too big, then realize it won't load. it happened to me once in the pre 0.9 BF. i was building a carrier for capital ships, and every single time i tried loading, BF would crash. i'd say it was around 500-600 pieces, and don't forget this was on the old, less computer-intensive BF.

It's so dark because it turns out that my laptop's screen makes things look brighter than they really are. Sorry about that.
I'm working on cutting the ship up to make a bunch of sections I can peice together so it looks the same. Less functional, but hey. This thing has 25000 HP, so I don't think it's gonna get blown up anytime soon.

I have it down to less than 100 sections so far. Used to be 500.
Note, 500 DOES load ingame. FYI

The ship itself is quite impressive, especially taking your previous work into account. The colorscheme is good, but you really need to lighten it up. I just can't see whether it's messy or not, simply because I can't discern all the internal details.

Say where did you get those larger sections I see on the arms?

Like the ship, though a bit to dark up front.

Your talking about the warning forever sprites probably...

Reactor is cool but have you tried putting a hex shield over it as a dome? I'm just not big on exposed reactors so I guess it either works or doesn't...

If your using big multi-piece sections that won't look bsfish when destroyed, you could always use a few underneth to give it a ragged edge where it 'broke' off. Xor sections work great for this.

In any case, cool ship.

I've looked at each stage of this ship's construction you've shown, and each I'd honestly see viable as a ship in it's own right.

Just keeps getting better.

I'm gonna put an uber pointbeam and a nanomatrix over it, so you have to EMP it to take it out. The reactor is supposed to absorb any projectile that touches it due to the intense energy and heat.

Xor?

Anyway, new 100 section version up.

And yet it doesn't incinerate/slag/melt/annihilate the metal components surrounding the frame because of what? Isn't a reactor that radiates intense energy and heat rather unsafe? Also kinda ruins the point of having a reactor, since you're meant to, y'know, harness that energy output to power things.

It does harness the power... somehow...
It's just held in an electromagnetic field.
