BlackMetalZivon's Ships

Because not a lot of people are capable of making a decent ship, especially on their first run. When people submit pieces of crap like this, we tell them what's wrong, look at this one, and start over.BlackMetalZivon wrote:WHY???jwa8402 wrote:they are negative to almost everyone thats new.
Shipmaking requires a certain amount of artistic sense and an idea of what you're making and how it will turn out. This also usually involves knowing how the shipmaker application works as well. Another consideration is that the ship in question, is "gameplay" practical, but that's usually an optional.
Because a vast majority of new shipmakers are rather bad, and tbqh, these are not really that good either. The overall hull/ship shapes have some potential as concepts, but everything else such as section use and so on and so forth is bad.BlackMetalZivon wrote:WHY???jwa8402 wrote:they are negative to almost everyone thats new.

This ship is objectively bad. It would have been bad in 2007. Your desperate unwillingness to admit that you might be wrong is making it hard to swallow down the bile long enough to give you sound advice. But rest assured, this is the ugliest ship post in a very long time.
Scrap these things, look at some other ships, and try again. First off, never stretch anything but skeletal sections, never mix colors like on a christmas tree, and never use aegis. Both from an aesthetic standpoint and a game designer's view, this shit is completely worthless.

Wow. I'm a journalist and that is still the most abbreviated, loaded quote I've seen in awhile.
Heres the file you asked for. See? No stretching. Now try again, but take some time with it.

Updates
I've redesigned the Tiger, Mekanos, and I-400. Though I'm sure there is still room for further improvement, I hope these redesigns are at least a step in the right direction:
Tiger

Mekanos

I-400

Tiger

Mekanos

I-400

The Panzer overhaul is a big improvement on the original.
That said, there are still a handful of things to work on. The first thing that comes to eye is that the yellow sections in the rear, and actually most of the sections were stuck on seemingly arbitrarily and look haphazard.
There are also several holes near the rear.
Another thing that just bugs me is that you have the brown depthed above the yellow in the front and below it in the rear. Pick one or the other so the ship makes a little more sense to the eye.
Also, the prow (the whole thing, but mainly the prow) seems a bit weapon heavy. Try pulling one or two off.

The Panzer overhaul is better than the concept, but it's still shit. Mushy dark brown outlining, a clusterfuck of huge sections in the center, dangling recoloured guns, a very poor section palette...Try to put a decent palette together, clustering the section together that are similar in one way or the other, and try working with that. Also, refrain from recouloring the weapons, it ususally doesn't look good IMO.

So you know how we're never ever supposed to say "GAHH MY EYES"?
Well I don't usually break into involuntary guttural noises when I see a ship, so I thought I should mark the occasion. (

It's not like it's all that ugly, it's not, but my first thought was that the ship looks like it was made out of plasma. You know the one I'm talking about.
