Azaran Federation - Valkyrie & Balmung

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

The invisible section has enabled rotation, but I don't get that trigger error. I didn't set any triggers on the section either.

Ceraina Fire Support Frigate added.

Looking at the bottom turret on the Ceraina suggests the guns are slightly misaligned.

And why do people use those damn things as energy weapons? They're autocannons! They're supposed to spit big chunks of metal at people, not energy beams or whatever!

It's just a name (on the Ceraina, at least). It's still a basic autocannon.

After seeing 2 supercannons, I decided to try making my own for fun. It's probably not very good though... >.>

Yes, I know it took down a Leviathan in one shot, I only made it for fun, not for balance. >.>

P.S: Cannon's damage is 1k in a 1k explosion rad. Probably gonna drop explosion radius to 500.

Neat movement and everything but the radius is a bit large. The sprite is so badly stretched, I first thought you were flying through a nebula :P

Are the solar rechargers just blue rectangles? Maybe they'd benefit from some more detail, but I can't really see it in the image.

If you're going to have a recoiling cannon, then make it look good! there's no definition on your barrel - I can't actually tell if it's recoiled at all from the pic :(

And what Aaganrmu said - pretty up those rechargers, cos they seem pretty garish and out of place.

Reworked the Ragnarok a little.

I also fixed it so that the cannon itself is linked to a 0-damage mining laser (target-painting laser) on top of the barrel, meaning the mining laser 'paints' the target first before the cannon itself fires.

That's pretty sick looking, is it based on a Tac-Cannon or something else?

The way the forward section attaches to the blue circular section seems really flimsy. I think it would look better to have a collar or something extending over the front so it doesn't look quite so flat. and personally, I would put something around the blue section and and try to get it to rotate say, 90 degrees after every shot. have a giant space Lewis gun.

Smaller ships are okay. Nothing spectacular, but not painfully ugly either. Quite a solid fleet in fact, especially for a newcomer. Weapons stick out too much for my liking, though.

The bigger ships, however, particularly Arcturia and Odessa, lack substance. The sole fact that there are so many blue parts that cover large space makes it look flat and jumbled. You should try brining up some layers with orderly/logical section arrangement and use of different colors (darker and brighter shades of the ones youve already used).

I must say i don't really like the shapes of bigger ships. I wish you had kept the sleek lines of Amoira and Ceraina.

Another nitpick would be the side pods on Arcturia and Odessa. They look flimsy, fragile, and out of place.

Most of the weapons also seem to be randomly placed. As if youve built the ship first, then slapped them in places that seemed most appropriate. Which is probably what you did.

Well, the internals are a bit more varied, which is a step in a good direction, but theyre still too random. Try making layers using colors; let the specific color follow from one section to another. Right now it looks like you just randomly colored a few sections.

And the ship is even more bulky now. Its general shape is rather unappealing imo.

Reworked it yet again. I guess the bulky shape was because of the curvy part going up to the prow, so I tried to make it sleeker.

Intercepted transmission log - subjects are a pirate asteroid base and patrol in the Ferca sector:
Base: Patrol, anything out of the ordinary?
Patrol 2: Nope. Just some asteroid and more asteroids. This is getting boring.
Base: Got it. Stay on patrol... check, our probes are picking up something big coming our way - target exiting hyperspace, ETA 4 minutes. Predicted exit point a little far out from where you guys are.
Patrol 1: Direction?
Base: Not far, one-point-five LY in the sun's direction.
Patrol 3: On it. Sounds juicy...

3 minutes later...

Patrol 3: Base, we're at projected target coordinates. Anything new?
Base: Negative, keep on the lookout.
Patrol 2: Whoa, my sensors are going nuts. Must be a really big target...
Base: Cut the chatter and keep your eyes peeled!
Patrol 1: Affirmative, base.
Patrol 2: Hey, that's a......
Patrol 1: Uh, base, we have a problem here......
Base: What kind of problem?
Patrol 3: Major big problem. Target's not a freighter. It's... a wedge-
Base: Azarans.
Patrol 3: I haven't finished. It's a wedge-shaped... er, dreadnought-size ship-
Base: Just a dreadnought? The Azarans usually hit harder......
Patrol 3: Base, stop cutting my transmissions. This ship is... err... armed with two giant cannons on top of it... holy- *static*
Base: Patrol 3, come in, patrol 3!
Patrol 1: He got fried by a beam! We're under attack!
Base: We need more details! What's going on!?
Patrol 1: That dreadnought just opened fire! Twin cannons targeting- *static*
Base: Patrol 1, come- *static*

End of log.
An anomaly was detected at the location of the asteroid base. Later attempts to locate it failed, but evidence of an explosion point to a powerful explosive used - possibly nuclear-based weaponry. Rumours state that the Armada used a portable version of the Ragnarok satellite cannon, but the Armada denies all allegations such a weapon exists. Witness statements point otherwise, as a vessel over twice the size of the existing Ragnarok Cannon has reportedly been seen attempting to hide in an asteroid field nearby that is classified as off-limits by the Armada.
