Or they can keep posting questions in Battleships forever general discussion, which is perfectly fine and since no one posts anything in there now aside from questions, isn't that cluttering. FAQ threads don't serve a real purpose except to yell at newbies. The more comprehensive an FAQ (The more likely that the question is addressed) the longer, and more troublesome, it is to find the question. If it's short enough to find easily, it probably doesn't answer many questions.
Besides, half the time, people simply wouldn't understand the answer in the FAQ and ask anyway. It's not exactly as if there's a tremendous amount of traffic and it's impossible to just answer questions.
I would, however, appreciate it if the policy where threads where a question was asked and answered are locked was revised. I think this, more than anything else, contributes to the creation of new question threads. What if someone else wants to post a related comment or question? They'd have to create a new thread. I see this current policy as bad judgement and a desire to flex moderator muscles. "Yay! I get to hit the shiny lock thread button! I feel so keen! n_n"

I don't think I've seen anyone in my entire life use the word "keen" on a forum.
