Small yacht

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Small yacht

Post by david1985 »

I saw a post in one of the other sections regarding the fact that their are very few civilian based spacecraft in the realm of BSF. This made me start thinking, especially of forms of luxury space travel, and after about an hour I came up with this. All critics and suggestions are welcome, as always.

The ship's name is Serenity, as seen on the side of the ship, and it sports 4 escape pods (for possible encounters with other more aggressive space faring beings.) and a series of luminescent features to contrast it's overall cyan glow. The Serenity boasts a powerful wormhole generator as well ,located at the center of the round forward section of the ship, for it's more elongated trips.

The side sections (the piece where you have "serenity" and its opposite) are really plain compared to the rest of the ship. They really don't fit.

I think the low/high contrast is interesting. However, the extremely plain side sections need a smattering of detail in order to finish off the look.

My post didn't go unheard!

A little PD for asteroids, wouldn't want the shiny hull scuffed and dented.
And dido on the center detail.

That is a great idea, after paying 40 billion dollars for a space yacht I wouldn't want it to be defaced by lingering space junk either.

As for the plain sections, to be honest I was struggeling to find anywhere to put the name of the ship(I desperately wanted that to be included) not sure where else I could put it. =\

I have no clue how I would go about putting windows on a 2d space ship.

 Well it looks to me like those plain sections(wf right?) would be either a rounded or shallowly angled bulkhead, since if it drops down at 90 degrees on either side that would be an ugly and boxy yacht. As for the name, the problem is your using all detailed sections. Even a stock 26 on either side in place of the plain section, maybe with some others on it for depth, would provide plenty of detail and space for a nameplate as well. Anyway, good luck

Again all suggestions welcome.

Also I would like to ask something of you voters, if you could please leave a reason as to why you think I should or should not create more civilian ships.

Well....?
Did I repair the plain sides? In my opinion the name looks sort of random, might just take it off. If I get no more comments I'm just going to move on to my next civilian ship, possibly public transport, or personal small crew ships.

Yeah, it did sort of screw up the name...
but to me it looks a lot better.
Not sure about the engine.

This stuff could be used in some interesting encounters...

If you darken those middle sections like the WF sprites in the original,I think the name will become readable again.

I wanted the engine to look more like the back of a luxury car, and I guess it didn't really work out as I planned. =\

EDIT: Making new thread for more civ ships.
