A simple transformer.

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

A simple transformer.

Post by MagusZero »

Yes, I only used stock sections. No, I haven't bothered to remove glow. This was, simply, my second attempt at making a transformer.

The ship transforms from it's closed, broadside state to a full on attack state. This is not meant to be the most beautiful ship ever made and it's balanced to my style, so it naturally won't be fair against most peoples' designs.

I couldn't get it to repack in the order I wanted, but it does repack and is playable.

Transformation trigger is ,

Anyway, here it is, closed state:

And open state:

In case someone actually wants it, here it is: http://www.mediafire.com/file/nvlomhlamty/trans2.7z

Well props for getting it to transform at all, more than I can do! Thres three things that really stick out to me. One is that the center area might look better filled in. Second that it could do with alot more details like engines(something to hide the thrusters on), and finally I can really see how this would work well with missles or lots of guns nestled in the 'wings', that only fire once they open.

Its a very simple ship but you could accomplish some cool things if you expand on what you have here.

For me it was more about changing the combat type. When in closed state, the guns all face the sides, and you only get half firepower. When in open state, they all face front, so you do twice as much damage but are open to assault from the back and sides. I think I can probably manage something much cooler, just haven't thought of anything yet.

Ah, I see. Incidentally, you realize the weapons on each side are mostly facing inwards in the broadside configuration? I know it would be more complicated to do but maybe you could have each on a section that rotates 90 degrees to face forward when the transformation starts.

I could theoretically manage something like that. My designs are generally based mostly on useage, so I didn't bother, since they still fire broadside.

This has inspired me to make something awesome. I'll upload it when i finish.

Nice attempt for a new player (are you new?), especially trying out the triggering. Hm, i've done similar things like this, in a wee bit larger size, and entered the BSFBP4 with it. With my suckish ship designs, i failed at 8th position (loser!). But i have a nifty trick to recommend; use invisible sections as pivot, use a nicely-drawn section (details, mecha, steampunk) which is nicely placed, and voila! You create something new!
