Don't make it thinner, instead continue sorting out some of the inner sections and slowly give it more coherency.
For example, the center circle section that surrounds the core glow is stretched too much, see if you can replace it with four/three circlish sections.
Additionally, the pair of stock section 26s and two syn_secs on the forward side areas break up the flow of inner sections. You should replace them as well.
