Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!
tl;dr-ers will be shot on sight.

Should be some time in the next hour or two. I'm currently still arming it, but it's mostly done. If you're lucky, it might be done in as little as half an hour.

The ship's huge and all but compared to your other ships its aesthetics isn't as good with the weird tail and struts. I commend the massive effort though, I really do.

I actually agree with you, there. Aesthetically, it's not quite up to the standards of some of my other works. I mostly just started making this so I could see how big and nasty I could make a ship. When 3.0 is released, I'll start work on something just as big, and even better looking, probably.

A mere 752 sections. Not counting the weapons I'm putting on it...

Indeed I have. I saw it on one of your ships, the spikey Athena, and I thought, "Damn... I need to try that on one of my ships, that looks pretty damn cool."
So yeah, credit goes to you for the engine design.

Here it is, ladies and gentlemen. The finished Halcyon... click on the pic for a look at the ShipMaker screenshot. It was so huge I had to paste 6 different screenshots together to fit it all in.

It only takes 10-20 seconds to load, for me, and my computer can't even run the game in surfaced mode. th15 did a damn great job with streamlining the .shp files.

Whether or not you can run with surfaces on depends on how new and how much VRAM your graphics card is/has. The actual performance of your setup has no bearing.
As for interpreting .shp files, that's depends entirely on the CPU anyways.

Eh? This isn't about compensation. I've always liked making my ships big and nasty. That's just how I do things. They're only intended to be balanced against each other, although this newest ship... eh, I doubt even a small fleet of my older ones could take it down, perhaps with the exception of the Holy Scripture ships. I might have overgunned it a bit.
I am capable of making small ships. Hell, sometimes I even prefer it. I just felt like testing the new shipmaker's limits. And I didn't break them, which is nice. I've noticed that a lot of the rear weapons don't fire though, which irks me. They start firing once the enemy gets within a certain range, but that confuses me, 'cause I set all their ranges to well over 2000, so they should be within range well before they start firing.

Turrets actually evaluate their targets more or less by the position of the target's core. If the core of the target is not in arc, it won't even try to fire at that size, regardless of whether or not any components of the target ship is actually in arc. (EDIT: There are exceptions to this, but by and large that is how the turrets search for targets)
I told you the game wasn't designed to function with such large ships.
