Random Ship Thread (TM) - pg. 1 Zelus verEX

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

YAHHH BITCH YAAAHHH. A drill is never out of place.

You're the best shipmaker around right now. The layout, section usage and simply the ideas are all miles ahead of anything else. Love the "strapped" flanks and covered turrets on the broadside.

In either case the drill needs to be bigger. That one you can insert up to the "hilt" there and then you have to.... back up? That's not tactically sound. Better to have a larger drill in which you can just keep going right on through.

haha how bout fin funnels with drills on the end? Like a miner ship with lots of little mining droids that can attack? The animated one I posted isn't good, but you should make yours spin too.

Well if the drill did get stuck, then all this ship needs is some kind of gravatic stabilizers, so that when the drill turns the enemy ship turns with it!

I'd like to take a moment to point out that the drill in question is large enough to significantly damage or outright impale most ships. Something tells me it's more of a brute-force-meets-finesse weapon anyway. You don't blunder into an enemy's heaviest, thickest armour, you basically use it like a stilleto and shank them in weaker, thinner areas that are more vulnerable. More bang for your buck that way.

Charge another drillship that's been de-drilled and you only go about a third of the way into the overall chassis, and it might be nasty but those broadside armaments are mostly unharmed. But if you come in at an angle between the engines and the wing, you can skewer it diagonally via the center or shred the wing support area. Far more effective.

Problem solved!

Without needing arguments about making a drill wider then the ship, or maneuvering a huge cruiser like a stiletto.

Metal Slug FTW

I don't know why we're still arguing over the drill. It's awesome and it does its job well.

Which Metal Slug game is that?

EriErin: Nice ship, I like the detailing on the sidepods and the colours. But the drill makes it look a bit like a narwhal. :P

Very, very nice. Good design, interesting execution of the concept. Good job. I assume you drew the silhouette of the ship and turned it into multiple sections to get the shield?

Kill. Me. Now. (so that I may see this thing in heaven, of course.)

Epic, Awesome, Fantastic, Amazing.

What can I say? I love that ship.

Hmm. I am personally not the fan OF MEGAHUGE close-combat WEAPONS.
They are impossible to be used properly. Balance s the best. size matters less.
Still the ship is AWESOME. 8.5\10

Warpman; we have something called Direct Control. This thing *is* combat viable, and with a shield the nifty it's pretty well defended while going close in.
