Second Fleet Attempt, C+C Welcome

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Second Fleet Attempt, C+C Welcome

Post by Razin »

So, this is my biggest multi-ship project yet, and my first attempt at using a new style, and with the new version. Comments and criticisms of both the individual ships, or the group overall, would be great, as I'm not sure which parts still need work and what's fine. Following are closer shots of the ships:

This would be the long range support of the fleet, featuring two Sabots and a Dual Railgun. Pretty straightforward.

This is a drone boat. I turned down the health, increased the speed a bit, and made each of those Demeter launch 3 drones. It'll just hang around the outside of the battle and spit drones, then run whenever something come at it.

Intending for this ship to wade into the thick of a fight, I fit it with deflectors and particle guns.

This is a pretty standard big-ship killer. However, it seems like it doesn't quite fit with the other style-wise. Anyone else agree, or am I just imagining it?

(Thanks in advance for any comments anyone decides to leave)

(edit: One of my image links was broken)

All the ships look good, even with the a bit weird coloring, but as a fleet, they are great - good arment, curvy, and lookalike.

Ok, so I've both a question and a new ship.

Is there a way for me to change the glow effect on all my ship's parts, without going through each and every one, or am I stuck? As I've got a slightly better color scheme figured out, but the orange glow effect throws it off. I want it to look something like this:

Which is incidentally my first attempt at making a small ship for this fleet. Critiques?

Open up BSF, go to options, and click on "colour" till you get to "ship glow" - set that to black (all the sliders to the lowest). That removes the orange/brown glow.

To be honest though, I actually like what stock glow does to the colours of your ships - the gray-and-teal one your last post doesn't have nearly as much synergy, though that's partially hull shape.

As for your question about your beamer-armed ship-killer fitting in, I think your impression might be due to the number of beamers which jut out a bit more than the other weapons. She still fits in though.

Overall, nice feel.

Changed the frigate around a bit, hopefully a bit more in keeping with the rest now.
