First time showing a ship

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

First time showing a ship

Post by Jokarun »

Hello,

I am quite new to this game and after completing the campaign, I decided to build some ships in the creator.
I was pleased with my work, until I dropped on this site by accident...
Well, lets just say that I decided to scrap all my "Capitol ships" and start with something smaller...

Thus here we are, my first ship is a carrier of drones

The control ship
Image
This is my first attempt at creating a carrier class ship.
It has no offensive weapons, only Point defence.

~Okay, Updated this ship a little.
~Removed the drone spawn thingy and changed it with demeter drone launchers.

The drone
Okay, i have officially scrapped the drone, I just simply can't get Anything to look nice even to me...

The corvette

Here you can see the effect of me trying something more complicated.
it is small... But I like small ships that pack a punch*.

This is a broadside corvette, mostly used as a low cost escort ships that can still survive battles with larger vessels.

*(Mostly because I simply can't create nice capitol ships)

Image
(Here you can see exactly how small it is, Look at how even that pirate gunship is bigger)
So let me know what you think, and let the flaming about my noobieness begin.[/u]

Okay, so I'm not insulting you or anything. But both ships are butt ugly, if you want that much PD, I suggest you mod some of them and delete the rest. The second one though, I don't know. I suggest you scrap it.

Control ship's a bit spammy. Try trading weapons count for clipsize, and you'll still be able to put up your wall of flak. The drone could use at least a small amount of armor (or a shield arc) on the front, otherwise it'll die quickly.

I, on the other hand, will simply use particle rifles, plasma cannons, and various beams to defeat it.

Hmm, not much to comment on :?
I like the shape of the carrier, but it's made from far too few parts in my opinion, and the point-defense guns makes it look like an hedgehog.

Try using the "Small" core for the fighter. It'l look less ugly.
Look Up
upon reading this:
50% of people will have scrolled up
25% will have looked at their ceiling
The last 25% can now feel smug because everyone else has taken orders from a little sig box.

A bit overarmed, but I like it in it's simplicity

The colour scheme could be expanded on, it's really flat right now.

Also, isn't the control ship a bit small for these kind of drones? They're almost as big as the controler is! It's a bit like launching 747's out of a carrier now. Demeters are (in my opinion) more fitting for this class of ship.

The command ship is... pretty good actually. Go for a bit more variation in color scheme next, and lighten up the weapons The drone however, is... bleh. Remember to use additive blending on shields. And, when making fighters, PLEASE shrink the core and place sections over it? 9 times out of 10 it'll look better that way, and it's a LOT easier to do well.

It's a bit small to be a ship carrier. Maybe remove a few point defense guns and the ship deployer and add some demeters? your "drone" is half as big as the carrier. also, when you use the shield sprite, go into the effects tab and find the blending box, set it to additive.

Okay, new version of the carrier is up.

Hmm... I should start building something bigger to spawn the drones...

~~Another edit: Added a new ship

First time trying a station...

A Stargate with powering station/Shipyard.
Image

Well, The yellow parts are Generators & Energy conductors as the Stargate needs Massive amounts of energy.

The defence is focused around the Shipyard, because it would be a pain to keep attacking the Stargate that has quite a few nano repair thingies and Tons of HP. Maybe I might add some PD on the Gate...

also in the picture you can see a slightly modified corvette class ship that just came from the Stargate...

Well, that is all for this station...
Now, Flame Away! ( I am sure that you would all have done that anyway even if I didn't say this :P )
