Long time lurker shares his stuff, mini update 12/31

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Hadrins
Lore to Come

Hadrin Fleet
Ships within the Hadrin armada are organized into numerical levels. The numeral corresponds to the hundreds of health it has. Also certain letters in the nomenclature of their ships correspond to a particular strategy or purpose they encompass.

First Letter:
B: Blaster(Main Weapon(s) Are Beams)
C: Carrier(Demeters)
G: Gun Platform (Multiple Types)
L: Leader (Leads Formations)
R: Rocket/Respond Vehicle
S: Swarm (Formation Vehicle)

Second Letter:
A: Attack (Offensive)
D: Defense (Defensive)
B: Bomber (Long Ranged Missiles)
E: Engineering (Non-Combat Roles)
U: Utility

Third Letter: For Special Ships
GUP: Gun Utility Platform (Armed With Usually One Powerweapon, Immobile)
STA: Station

Class 1 Ships
Coming Soon

Class 1.5 Ships
Image
RE-1.5-Abettor

The Abettor's main role in the Hadrin armada is support. With two nano-matrices, the small, but sturdy ship, is always active, repairing ships and aiding in point defense.

Class 2 Ships
Image
BA-2-Sair

Easily mass-produced, the Sair is a common sight on the battlefield. Its main blaster Turret provides support fire while its point defense shatters incoming missles and beams.

Image
GA-2-Assent

The Assent is a jack-of-all-trades ship, entering dogfights against any opponent. Its varied arsenal assures its capability to do damage, however, its unspecialized nature assures its usefulness is limited.

Image
GA-2-Consort

A favorite among pilots, the Consort is a self sufficient spacecraft capable of being effective on its own. Armed with both beamers and missiles, it compliments the Assent in combat with its varied arsenal, while being heavily defended with ablatives, sheilds, and a robust point defense system.

Image
SU-2-Parma

The Parama is a specialized ship with a sole purpose of support. Its two large frontal shields protects it, and its allies, from oncoming fire, while its two weasel guns allows it to enter the fray from a safe distance.

Class 2.5 Ships
Image
RB-2.5-Onager

Armed with 3 types of specialized missiles, the Onager is designed as a versatile long ranged bombard. Its rear launchers, the Grapeshots, fires speedy, powerful, and accurate anti-personnel missiles. Its Carcass launchers in its middle launch unguided, but powerful larger rockets. Finally, its long-ranged, and accurate Scorpio missiles in its nose, aid it in destroying fast moving smaller targets.

Class 3 Ships
Image
LA-3-SAAM

The SAAM, or Short Arsenal Attack Machine, aka Sammy, is deployed to lead formations with its power tychon blasters and its heavily ablated hull.

Image
CD-3-Bulwark

A heavy shielding lumbering vessel, the Bulwark is nigh invulnerable to most conventional forms of attack. However, as it lacks any conventional weaponry, its roles are limited to defensive maneuvers.

Class 4 Ships
Image
CO-4-Longbow

The Longbow is a long ranged ship and carrier; however its real utility comes from its two pulsar cannons capable of phasing through even shielded sections, assuring that no ship is too powerful for the Hadrins to destroy.

Image
RU-4-Bulkhead

The heavily platted head of the aptly named Bulkhead places it in a position to lead fleets into battle. Aided by its wide array of point defense and lasers, the Bulkhead is a mainstay of any fleet.

Image
BA-4-Cyclops

The highly experimental vessel, the Cyclops, is a rare sight in inter-planetary conflicts. However, if seen, it certainly means swift death. The Cyclops is armed with a powerful laser that easily penetrates through shielded sections and ablative hulls.

STATIONS

STA-3-Aspis

This is why I like lurkers!

These are some mighty fine ships for a relative newbie, they've got quite interesting shapes and the detailing on some of them in great. They're not perfect, and there a few bits that could be fixed (the white outlining is a bit bright and kinda glaring, in some instances), but all in all, this is some pretty solid shipbuilding.

And you're polite! And use proper spelling and grammar! I'd hug you, except then I'd lose my "evil meany Mod" cred.

Looking forward to more.

Ok these are some of the coolest newbie ships ever. I really really like the thin shield sections. and the beautifull overlap on some ships. Keep up the good work

Your first 4 ships are well done, but its how you made those last 2 stations look great is what astounds me. However I see one small mirroring error on the bulwark right above the core, other than that they're pretty solid.
You have done a very good job, hats off to you sir.

Just a not, whenever taking pictures of a ship, simply ctrl+click on the empty area, as it deselects all sections for ya. It means that you'll be able to avoid the Highlighted section problems on the Bulwark and (maybe?) on the Battersea.

Besides that... very good really. Again, I would work on the outlining a bit, as its fuzzy in some places, and just generally not needed, as your ships coloring means that having sections stick out is NOT a problem. Beyond that, my only advice for future ships would be to work on internals, as those on some of your ships (most noticably perhaps the Aspis) don't work very well. (Basically, knowing what the outline is going to look like is definitely a good thing, but don't place sections SOLELY for the purpose of creating that outline. Not nearly as bad as it is on quite a few ships, but still).

But, uh... yeah. Overall very good. Welcome to the forums (even though you were sorta already here, but w/e)

And -THIS- is why everyone should lurkmoar before posting their ships.

Nice ships, I like the Aspis, though the outlining on some of the ships is kinda glaring like what Anna said.

My GOD!

These ships are amazing for a newb! (Then again, I can't say much because I'm a newb too.)

You've just single-handedly convinced me to lurk for a couple more months before posting any more of my ships.

You sir, have achieved Epic Win.
Not only are your ships excellent, but you lurked, and got Anna's expressed approval. Such a combination comes very rarely.

Well thanks for all the feedback guys! The stations were by far more fun to make then the ships; I didn't have to worry about mirroring. Asymmetry holds supreme!

And thanks for the note on not selecting anything in the editor to prevent that ugly little blue outline, as you all can see on the bulwark and battersea.

I'll frequently update this thread o' mine, so if you like my stuff stay tuned :)

Anna: Well, tis' an honor coming from you. Love all your ships man.

maarten: can do!

Giles: its my favorite too :)

Blackhart: That may be cause I selected it before I took the screenshot, hence the blue outline.

lightstriker: thanks for the info man. And yeah, I agree about the outlines, hard to make em crisp on things like diagonal sections such as the wings.

Atrum: Thanks, and yeah, lurkering is always a good thing.

Smut: Well thanks man.

Slayer0019: I know right? Pretty surprised from reading his other posts :)

SHAD0Wdump and gopa4: Thank ye' lads!

Very good work on these ships. Good outlining; check. Nice colorwork; check. No weapon/section spam; check. No mistakes, and I love those stations. Nice work, and welcome to the forums.

To all newbs; lurk moar like this one.

EDIT; nitpick; use .png instead of .jpeg. You'll have much better picture quality.

No I know about that, I'm talking about the section 23 overlaping the 25 in the middle of the ship. I was just kind of wondering if it was intentional or not :P
