Cruisers

Providing fast moving, long-range bombardment is the Anguish, a Cruiser that makes use of the newly sanctioned missile pods. Fast and maneuverable, the Anguish can easily flank slower ships and hit unshielded spots with a barrage of missiles, backed up with its single Heavy Railgun. Two frontal ablative plates can keep the Anguish in good shape while its two deflectors protect other sections, and point defense is handled by two Particle Guns. Anguish Cruisers are usually seen in squadrons of two or three, and often function as part of a larger force.

Standing firm in the Navy’s arsenal is the close-range Cruiser, the Magnum. Providing the basic chassis for the other ships of it’s class, the Magnum is an old design, going back sixty years to the Piraticle War, where it’s four Light Beamers proved efficient at concentrating for pin-point attacks. Flash forwards to today, and the Magnum has been retrofitted with two Torpedo Tubes to aid it in attack runs. For defense, it relies on a pair of Deflectors and Particle Guns to see it through incoming fire to reach its optimum targeting range. Continued retrofits are planned to allow the Magnum to continue service.

A new addition to the Sector Fleets is the Striker, a mid-range attack Cruiser. Defensively identical to its progenitor, it trades away its armaments for two Beamers and two Blasters. Though the Blasters are meant for defensive fire against Bombers and Escorts, they can contribute to the Strikers primary attack form, the Beamers, capable of ripping through armor, and being unable to be intercepted. More and more patrol fleets are adding Strikers to their rosters, and it is theorized that they will one day outshine even the trusted Magnum.

When heavy projectile firepower is expected, most commanders turn to the trusted Repulse-Class Interceptor. Based on the same chassis as other cruisers, the Repulse trades away all offensive firepower to make way for an impressive three Deflectors, four Particle Guns, and even four Point Defense Beams. Thus, though offensively inept, the Repulse can provide coverage fore and entire patrol fleet. There been unconfirmed reports of radical captains turning the Particle Guns against small enemy craft, possibly debunking the theory that the Repulse cannot win in a one-on-one standoff.
Carriers

Taking a radical turn from other ships of its size, the Cauldron has a unique design that many have called inefficient. However, continuing reports of victories in which Cauldrons have participated continue to accrue, forcing skeptics to accept its eccentric design. Two Blasters allow for conventional firepower, while its defense is handled by a pair of Deflectors and Particle Guns, along with a single Flack Cannon. A new Gravbeam module can crush enemy drones and allow the Cauldron to keep a respectable distance between itself and the enemy. Its main punch, however, comes from the six Drone Bays spread along its sides, which can harass ships of all sizes from far away. Support for this ship grows with each successful encounter with enemy ships.

Continuing the Carrier tradition of differing designs compared to other ships, the Lecher-Class Heavy Carrier provides twice the capacity as the Cauldron, a full twelve Drone Bays. Two Beamers provide conventional firepower, though the Lecher is meant to operate from outside the combat zone, sending in wave after wave of Drones. Thus, its point defense is left to three Defense Beams and a single Aegis Shielding module that covers most of the forwards arc. Due to its relatively low speed, a contingent of Cruisers or Escorts usually provide support against would-be attackers.
Destroyers

The Cataphract is a staple of the Sector’s Naval forces, capable of holding it’s own against almost any threat of the same scale. Armed with two Railguns, two Drone Bays, and two Torpedo Tubes, it is a jack-of-all-trades, capable of long-range bombardment or mid-range attack runs. Two Deflectors allow for protection from most attacks, and the four Particle Guns can intercept enemy projectiles surprisingly well. Perhaps the most well known feature of the ship, though, is the large armored plate that covers most of the direct route to the core from the front, allowing it to weather intense attacks in good form. The Cataphract is definitely going to stay with the fleet for decades to come.

Based on the same chassis as the Cataphract, The Dynamo is an offshoot design meant to fill the one role the Cataphract does not: close-range attack. The Dynamo replaces the its cousins offensive weapons with an array of two Scatter Beams, two Repeater Cannons, two Pulse Guns, and a single Gatling Pulse Gun. This loadout is effective against large numbers of weaker craft, enabling the Dynamo to act as an excellent flag ship for patrol fleets, as well as remaining effective in larger fleet actions.

The predecessor to the Cataphract and the Dynamo, the Brutus has been in the Sector Navy for over four decades already, and, with continued upgrades, should remain there for some time to come. While defensively identical to the Cataphract and the Dynamo, its offensive power differs from its offspring by capitalizing on projectile firepower, attempting to overwhelm enemy point defense. It does this with two Blasters, a Gatling Blaster, and two Weasel Guns. Helping it pour on the firepower is a Booster module aimed at the frontal plating where the Blaster weapons are mounted, increasing their output enormously. The newer Weasel Guns can also wrap around enemy shielding, allowing it to take out a more defensive craft in a fight.
Heavy Cruisers

http://www.wyrdysm.com/battleshipsforev ... ruiser.shp
Filling the Gap between the Destroyers and Battleships are the Heavy Cruisers. The Ox-Class Heavy Cruiser does its namesake proud, being sturdy, lumbering, and capable of crushing almost anything when it is angered. Defensively sound, it has three Deflectors, two Particle Guns, and two Flack Cannons to intercept incoming fire. Offensively, it can give quite the pounding with two Improved Beamers, four Torpedo Tubes, complimented by four forwards facing Blasters. The sides mount Quad Blasters to cover all sides of possible attack, giving the Ox good protection from flanking opponents.

Following in the footsteps of the Ox comes the Hellstorm-Class Heavy Cruiser. The Hellstorm is clearly a broadside ship, each side protected by an improved piece of battleplating, allowing it to keep up the firepower. Each side has four Improved Gatling Blasters and six Improved Blasters, while the front houses two Heavy Railguns. Only half of the weaponsry of each broadside can be see, as the other half lies under the ship. While defensively identical to the Ox, commanders need to master a whole new set of tactics for the Hellstorm, learning to put it between two opposing enemy ships to maximize firepower, a task that is more difficult compared to the Ox or Genesis. Still, the Hellstorm is continuously given the coveted “Most Awesome to Watch” Award from citizens planetside watching spatial combat.

Diverging immensely from its kin, the Genesis is a new design based on the chassis of Destroyers. Though by far the slowest of the three Heavy Cruisers, it makes up for it with durability. When targeted correctly, its three Deflectors can render the entire front invulnerable for extended periods of time. It retains the four Particle Guns of the Destroyers, but has an offensive armament of a full three Beamers, two Weasel Guns and four Drone Bays. This radical re-design of structure and weaponry has led to many commanders shunning the Genesis, though it has proven itself repeatedly in combat.
Battleships

http://www.wyrdysm.com/battleshipsforev ... leship.shp
Based off the Destroyer chassis, the Faulter is the most produced Battleship in the Sector Fleets, with over five hundred currently in service. Affectionately referred to as the Bulwark, the Faulter is on the cutting edge of technology, equipped with four Beamers, four Railguns, three Torpedo Tubes, and four flank Blasters. This array of firepower is backed up by four Particle Guns and two Point Defense Lasers, along with three Deflectors. The Faulter is also the fastest of the Battleships, capable of speeds faster than some Heavy Cruisers. Its main vulnerability is that the back of the ship is protected by only two sections, close to which lie the Deflectors. However, Battleships are never seen alone, and can count on entire squadrons of lesser ships to give aid should the need arise.

Fresh from the orbital drydocks comes the Terror-Class Battleship. Equipped for maximum forwards firepower, the Terror is a mid-range Battleship equipped with a new Aegis Shield module protecting the forwards arc, along with two Deflectors. Two Particle Guns and Flack Cannons finish of the defenses, while the offence begins with four Weasel Guns and six Blasters. Augmenting this are four Gatling Blasters and four Scatter Beamers. Defensively superior to the Faulter, the Terror has ablative plate covering the back, and extra plating for certain high importance targets. Overall, the Terror proves to be a good choice for those who favor the slow and steady route in battle, though one rarely gets to choose.
