Useful tip to solve your problem:
*Move the core back, and change it to a civ core to eliminate that blue dot.
*create a section, any section. While its selected press R. This opens a code string.
*Scroll left to where it says spr_Section 11(or whatever number it is) change this text to spr_Core. Leave the rest of the text in tact.
*Come to think of it, just copy this string:
section|spr_Core|0|65280|-1|196.55|0|1|1
*Press E while that section is still selected, and paste this string.
This will create a core section that is not the core which can be placed where the actual core is right now. Thus you can keep the appearance of your good looking ship without making it a one hit wonder.
If its too confusing just ignore me, but you seem like you get the basics of the game. In any case, welcome.

I like the way the scatterbeams look on the ends of the wings. The overall design of the ship is pretty neat, but there is a few too many weapons. Remove one or two flak turrets, and replace two of those missiles with pulse guns, maybe modified, or perhaps replace one of the two railguns with a weasel.
I dunno. It's your ship.

The Corvette is very nice, good color scheme. I think it has a good number of weapons. The one thing I don't like is how the Gatling Blaster sticks out a bit, but to move it back would put it too close to the Missiles, methinks. Perhaps resize the two front sections to be longer by one?
Also, the fighter seems nice.

The battle was hard; 3 against 150. It took everything we had, and I was the only survivor, but we killed all three of the bastards.

okay, the original ships were a weapons spam, all the same weapon all over the ship, then the core was exposed, then you put an ugly teal section right in front of the core...The new ship also has has a parenting problem with the nose cannon, you should hide a centered section under the nose and parent the cannon to it.
