Harkonen Fleet

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Harkonen Fleet

Post by Linkfan23 »

This is a Fleet I have just started. While the name isn't mine, the ships are. I think they are an improvement over my last fleet (Waaaay back.) I am currently working on balancing the four out as some have some flaws that make them slightly too weak, or slightly too strong. If you have and suggestions, or comments please say them. C&C appreciated too.

I see somebody plays Dune...

I like them, but the 1st & 4th ship has a real block for a front.

I think they're quite well done and simple. But they're all dying for some sort of engine.

i think waht it lacks is a character or a theme .. even i m learning, so it is best to follow some known theme like some wildanimals or spider

then develop as per own taste

I would swap the side winders and the missile launchers on the frigate, that way there is less distance to travel for the missiles and less time to shoot them down.

EDIT: Your missile launchers look off on the frigate too.

yeah, you generally need to do a bit more checking over of your ships after mirroring.
If possible, could we get un-parenting pictures? it sort of makes these ships hard to judge quality wise. generally however, they need to be more... distinguished... looking. there's nothing really appealing about them, they're just *meh*
oh, and @ViTek: not only would that simply do the exact same thing to the sidewinders, he could just make the interceptability lower if he was worried about that :/ and you're talking about a difference of frames, not even seconds... plus, I don't think he really armed these ships the way he did in the search of the "most efficent combat layout"

Some f the doodads look off on the shipbuilder file, but in-game they are mirrored correctly. I will Post pictures without parenting lines.

Maybe he is going for realism, not aestetics. In any case, they are good for new people so keep going. On the frigate, I would delete the aegis on the section 23 though. That gives me a headache having aegis inside a ship.

not to mention how if the core is placed entirely inside of the aegis'ed part it will be more difficult to destroy. Aegis's are usually used for the sides of the ship, thruster or the "power cores". I never had any luck with inner Aegis parts.

Okay, not the prettiest ships, a little blocky, but at least they have fairly good parenting. except for the nose cannon on the new one, it needs to be parented to a center line section, my advice, use section 17 and hide it under the nose of the ship.
