this will knock your socks off! GRAND CRUISER

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Heh, the guide is a bit amusing.

Anyway instead of using long stretched sections, try using multiple sections to create a long part.

ok i understand you don't like stretching, but how else do i make a long connecting strut? it looks the best if it is solid, and only one piece i think. many pieces for a single strut would be funny. but for my next ship, i will not use struts.

Did you TRY using multiple small long parts for your struts?

Multiple parts makes your ships far stronger than having a single long piece. Try using many parts for struts.

Uhhh.... yeah. I concur with everything that they said (parenting, stretching is suck in the face, etc).

Perhaps it might be better to start with relatively small ships, i.e. those with less than 10 or 12 sections, to get a feel for parenting, stretching, how to place stuff properly, proper speed/turning values (because its simply illogical and stupid if you have a massive 200+ section ship with lots of weapons, modules, etc. that can zip across the screen in a matter of nanoseconds, if you want a ship that can 'warp' around use dieterlings and play with their range and recharge time), and deflectors. Too many deflectors is just annoying.

here is my latest ship, the human Special Operations Ship.
Image

story:
in the war with the robot legion, the UFC needed a powerful ship that could quickly strike into the heart of a robot base. so they made the Special Operations Ship. With it's jumpdrive, it can jump into the heart of an enemy base and cause havok. it is not meant to be a main battle ship, but it can serve a support role on the front lines.

The parenting is sound at least. Try coloring the sections, that green is eye-burning. Also, the back section seems spammy. It is a nice jump from your beginning ships, that's for sure.

Also, I noticed a bit of stretching. Not as bad as before, but it's still there.

Otherwise, you're improving!

Try modding weapons and modules so you don't have lots and lots of weapons and modules.

Yeah, too much weapon spam and the section 26s don't look good. But, you have improved. Congratulations.

The Good: Parenting's good, stretching is more reasonable.

The Bad: Color sucks, weapon/module/section spam.

The Ugly: Ship has stupid angles and bad design decisions which completely destroy its aesthetic value; you used JPEG instead of PNG or GIF for the screenshot!

Hey Noctis, make us a macro on what filetypes to use!

It looks like crap with the weapons randomly thrown onto the front of the ship.

Fix the aegis 26's (remove them or something)
Remove the skinny pieces that will blow up major parts of the ship if destroyed.
Cut down on weapons spam ZOMG

The base hull of your ship, the inside, looks pretty sound. The rest of it doesn't live up, though. Big sections supported by skinny little spindle ones aren't pretty at all. That and weapon/module spam.
