Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

I mean the idea of gravity control is a rather common one here so whats to stop an alien race from using pinpoint gravitational control to hold together a ship?
With tech that advanced they can simply fling the crap out of hostile ships.
If you're gonna arm your ship, I suggest nothing but GravBeams to keep in-line with that flavour.
hmmmm I think it will be a combination of grav-beams, frosch guns, some misc modules with only light based weapons. Purely high tech stuff, no gattling blasters or projectiles. With maybe the exception of my starlight repeating mass driver.
Yeah, basically a railgun made to act as a Gatling blaster.
Ok I think I can throw a summery of the back story up now. I'll keep it short to avoid massive text walls.
A few eons ago there was a collective of the most advanced races within a section of space. Realizing their individual weaknesses they embarked, through selective breeding and bioengineering to create the ultimate species. Within a dozen generations all races of the collective had disappeared, replaced instead with a new race which carried the strengths of all the collective races with none of their weaknesses.
This race then created the ship foundry known as the Starforge. The starforge was a sentient machine, eternally improving as it continued to create greater and greater ships. After a time its knowledge far surpassed that of its creators and its ships became more and more abstract as the Starforge began to twist the laws of physics and reality. Ships were larger inside then out, had interiors resembling an Escher painting and holding no recognizable shape when compared to any other space fairing vessel. And while it was at first feared that the Starforge had become more interested in ecentric designs then functionality these ships were quickly shown to have unimaginable destructive power. The new species, now known as the Army of the 888 stars, began their conquest of the lower races.
The starforge's power comes from the substance known as aetheferrum, a sentient metal. Functioning similarly to nanomachines, aetheferrum is self regenerating and capable of not only creating completely new forms but adapting the forms of other craft for its own use. Every last mote of aetheferrum contains the collective knowledge of all aetheferrum in existence. Because of these abilities as well as its seeming ubiquitous consciousness aetheferrum has become know as "the flesh of the machine god."
Also, Saiph, One of Orion's smaller gaurdian ships.
Hopefully this kinda quells some of the disease about my floating ship parts and such

ah ya whiners. Fine fine.

And PLEASE edit out the 'Dumb Test' links! I don't know about you, but I certainly wouldn't want to accidentally click one because I didn't see it, then find out it's a browser hijack!
(sb3's for this and all other ships available upon individual request)
Pro's: Blade of Orion cuts through other ships like butter. Defense system creates immunity to projectile based weapons (within reason)
Cons:Not as sturdy as many of the other ships in its class/tech range. Orion's blade has a tiny firing arc. Starlight cannons are quick firing but not individually powerful.
how so? in fact there's not really any room for internal detail... If you're more specific I'll go back and change it, but besides the repetition of parts to get a smooth curve (which I will admit is a lot more obvious and less acceptable here) I can't see anything wrong..
The way things are layered, it seems you're building the curve first, which leaves some annoying layering but, anything you put in the center is just filler, rather than anything shape defining.
also is the fact that I do the outer structure first really that bad? I know Anna does it the same way, (by looking at his ships at least). I reparent everything of course.
If it really bugs everyone I'll make it so they're under the layer before them.
C&C please
also lately I've played around with WMD's so look for something in that category whenever I can perfect it.
Please note that these are actually semi-targeted and not just random.
I fought against your ship and while i do like the design and weapons i have some issues with it.
First, the point defenses are a bit much. The point beams actually kill the projectiles before they even clear the barrel and thats from rather far away. The clip size is rather high and with the fire rate and reload there is almost no chance for any projectile weapon that is not modded to fire a huge salvo of rounds at very high speeds to even get close to your ship.
Second, the main cannon is......well....wank ship worthy. And coming from the guy that made a tatari killing wank ship that says alot. The main gun cut my ship in half way to fast for a ship of its size and my ship has alot of armor and shielding. The main cannon is more of what you would find on a mobile weapons platform and not a little ship.
Third, for a speed of only 3 the acceleration is 200!!!!!. A bit much
My new ships are balanced to fight against spootknight's, lizzie's and somewhat some of Anna's weaker ships. My beam weapons did good damage against your ship but my projectile weapons could not even get close enough to do ANYTHING, they where shot down before even clearing my ships hull.
For something that is suppose to be a small guardian ship for bigger ships its weapons are way to much for its role, if it was a mostly immobile defense weapons platform then i would say its mostly perfect but its not a weapons platform is it.
*EDIT*
Almost forgot, the main cannon also has de-syncing issues. The arc range is still too much so the layered beams tend to split and target different sections so it does not look very good.
I had to make my arc ranges for my main cannon on my ship under 1 so they would not de-sync, i do have to point the whole ship at a target and force fire though but it looks good doing it ^^
