Navy of the Republic of Alesia

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Now that's a marked improvement. Well done Caesius. Perhaps giving it some (more) weapons would do the hull justice?

Okay, I think it's almost done except for doodads and weapons.

Speaking of doodads, I *almost* figured out how to get the cool glowy crap, but apparently I did something wrong:

Um.... no. plz advz D:

BTW, if you like the old engine pods better, please say so 'cause I'm not sure if I like the new larger pods better than the old ones.

Go to the bfconfig.ini file and find the glow, put it all to 0, that will keep the glow from happening. The other way is to go into the game, go to options, click on colors til it says glow, and turn it to black there, either works. I like the new engines btw.
Alls Requiem, my current project, with many more to come. Feel free to critique my site as much as you please.

Thanks.

I don't quite like them, mainly because of the structure connecting the outer two engines has awkward angles. I'm going to switch it up so that the center engine juts out instead and see what happens.

Edit: By which I mean the outer two engines look like crab claws which wasn't my intention at all.

Alright, second revision of the engine pods. I'm rather satisfied with this version so I'll move on to the armament and such now.

Edit: And yeah, I noticed the layering error :P

It needs colors that blend and fit together, rather than large blocks of solid color.

Battlecruiser RAS Iberia has been completed.

Edit: Well, it's not quite ready for battle it seems; the main problem is that it's too easy to destroy the center engine, and when it's gone it loses all acceleration even though there's still two engines left.

I'll tweak it and post the fix if requested.

BoVinE is quite correct. I would suggest you tinker around with the HSV values rather than the RGB values first, if you are somewhat inexperienced with colors. Once you understand them, it tends to be easier to create gradients and color blending.

Depending on how much time I feel like devoting to shipbuilding I may or may not build more ships in the future, especially if they're going to be that size (or bigger). I guess it's a similar experience to playing Civ IV in that starting out is a pain in the ass but the late game makes it worthwhile.

Obviously if I end up with a WIP worth a damn I'll post it here. Anyone have any suggestions on what I should try next?

Edit: I just changed the in-game primary/secondary/tertiary colors. So... How do I create gradients then?

Custom colors are assigned by selecting a section, right-clicking it, and going to the 'colors/custom color' option. It opens up the windows color picker.

And I assume I gotta do that for each section?

I don't really want to devote my time to making pretty gradients and such; if I'm going to plop my ass down in front of the shipmaker it's going to be so I can make badass starships without having to worry about their color schemes.

Kaelis made a tool called SMH, and it work pretty well for that stuff. Don't use move or color mode though, just the hotkeys.
