Outer reaches protectorate fleet (flame war cleared)

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Outer reaches protectorate fleet (flame war cleared)

Post by Dessel Ordo »

O.K so I re-seeded the thread to clear flame war.
not showing originals unless requested
here are the ships that have been re-done so far:

Image
from left to right: Maul, Naga, Ventress

Image
THe Bandon (would have included the Krayt here also, but it needs LOTS of work and causes the never-ending bug storm) (and no, not Zerg or Nids)

Image
from left to right: Phaneus, Malak

and the new upload for this half of the fleet:

back to the intelligent conversation (oh so rudely interrupted previously)

just hauling my comments from the previous thread to this one.
I would say they still have one to many weapons, could cut down and mod the weapons instead. I find this the problem with the really triangular ship (the Malak?).
Yea so i suggest cutting down on the weapons and modding the remaining.

Still got a few too many guns on the larger ones (though its not as bad, reducing thruster spam helped a lot).
Fight want to rotate a few more of them - might break up the gun repetition.

Okay, flamewar gone, time to return to posting normally.

These ships are a massive imporovement since your last ones. They still, though, suffer from:

-A little repetition(On the largest one, sec.16 looks absolutely terrible when you repeat it. I'd suggest using another section with part of it buried.

-The bigger ones just don't seem to look as "menacing" as the first ones. Meybe make the ends of the "wings" sharper? It doesn't take much work to pop a section 2 onto the end.

O.K.
made Phaneus sharper winged

Vectivus is either finished or I just am having mental block on wut else it needs tweaked.

still headed in right direction (next one is the dreadnaught (the huge one with MAJOR issues on all levels) it will be a while)

The "tail" of the Vectivus looks like a lobster tail due to the ribbing :D

Once again I say nice ships. They look good and the colouring is well done. Keep up the good work.

so, yea, my current dreadnaught is just a mess, both in form and function, I'm gonna have to go ground-up with it.
After going through the forums I may have found out why my Super-Dreadnaught won't load... working on that.

In the meantime, here are my support destroyer and smallest carrier.

nitpick away!!!
(now that over half of the mainstays of the fleet are up to snuff, balance comments would be welcome as well, I have updated the DL)

The ship on the left is brilliant, really strikes a chord with me for some reason, love the design. The ship on the right unfortunately still has a lot of its hull obscured by weaponry, the placement is mostly good, there is just too much still.

All in all, the ships are fairly decent.

Using sith lord names, I see... :D

Hmmm, albeit I must say you've made great progress, there are still a few things that bug me...

The colours look off... It's taste, sure, but the colours make the ships look unappealing and a bit legoed together with yellow and red bricks...

The arms... The idea is lovely and unique, but it's not used in any consistent way, and they look a bit frail with the gaps and the rather boring straighs sections... A bit more ornate designs will do these wonders ;3

The overal look of the whole fleet is rather off... There doesn't seem to be any real design that binds 'em other than the arms, but yeah, see above...

Once again, just my opinions... A lurker's opinions probably don't matter too much...

Other than that, congrats with your fleet, the individual designs, even the weapon loadout, is unique in a good way. If you can get those arm/pod things to look good, you got a wonderful ship-building career ahead of you.
