The New Order and G.U.P. Fleets

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

The New Order and G.U.P. Fleets

Post by Blackhart »

Hey Everyone, I'm new to these forums and Ive been browsing them ever since I downloaded this game a couple of weeks ago, over the past couple of weeks I've been reading "how to build" topics and stuff like that to help me create and finally release my very first fleet. Ive worked long on this fleet and I'm very pleased with the results, and any help or advice you can give me on improving my fleet is much appreciated. Ive also created a little back story for my fleet as well. Hope you all enjoy.

The New Order

Image

Ruled under the iron fist of a power hungry dictator only known as the Grand Echmos, The New Order is a union of races thats soul purpose is to unite the galaxy under one banner. There are currently two races that are in the Order: the Scrath, and the Kanden. The Scrath is the race that is responsible for forming the union, and therefore, made themselves responsible for governing and controlling the New Order. The Scrath are a greedy and power hungry race and will stop at nothing in order to get what they want. The Kanden however are very different from the Scrath. The Kanden are a proud and noble race of warriors that believe in justice and peace. Why they are a part of the Order however is due to an ancient pledge of allegiance to the Scrath who once saved the Kanden from extinction. The Kanden basically act as warrior slaves to the Scrath, and are used by the Scrath to pilot and run ships designed by them. Other races that want to join have to pledge their allegiance to the Grand Echmos of the New Order and serve him/her for all eternity. Races that do not join are simply destroyed completely or pummeled into submission. The New Order is currently at war with another faction called the G.U.P. (the Great Union of Planets) which purpose is basically the same, but wants to unite the galaxy by peaceful means rather than destroying almost every race they encounter.

New Order Ships

Ships of the new order are usually designed and built to suit Kanden fighting styles and tactics since they are the ones controlling the ships. New Order ships take the meaning "The best defense is a good offense," to a whole new meaning, almost all of the ships are purely made to fill offensive roles. Since New Order ships are purely offensive, they usually are less armored than other ships of the same type. The New Order's ships are also known for their unique beam technology. Unlike other ships from other factions they use a beam weapon that shoots a constant beam while other factions use a pulsating beam weapon. The New Order's beam weapon is also unique by the way it splits the beam is split into 3 separate beams, which can cause damage over several sections of a ship's hull. The separation however reduces the total damage and the accuracy of the beam, which gives the standard pulsating beam more accuracy and a larger punch.

(and finally the ships)

Dumalin Heavy Attack Fighter

Image

The Dumalin Heavy Attack Fighter is the standard fighter used by the New Order fleet to execute raids on large supply convoys imperative to the G.U.P. war effort. It is also has proved to be a very effective interceptor. It is armed with a modified mining beam to penetrate heavily armored transports and 2 high yield missile launchers for fighter on fighter combat.

Gazeka Anti-Fighter Corvette

Image

An old and outdated Scrath passenger shuttle modified to become an anti-fighter corvette. It carries a scatter beam weapon that sweeps across its bow to damage anything unlucky to be close enough to it.

Natoa Assault Frigate

Image

The only ship to be designed by a Kanden! Whats even more impressive is that the design of the ship was created back before the Scrath first encountered the Kenden. Since then the ship has gone through little modifications, and only its electronic and weapon systems have been updated. Easy to build, reliable, and powerful, this ship is essential to the New Order war effort. It carries one beam cannon, two pulse cannons, a frosch cannon, an a deflector module that can cover a single section of the ship.

Malvis Light Destroyer

Image

After seeing the impressive effectiveness of the Kenden's Natoa, the Scrath, not wanting to be one upped by the Kanden, stole the blueprints for the Natoa and modified it to what we know now to be the Malvis. The Malvis is basically an amped up version of the Natoa. It is armed with 2 gatblasters instead of 2 pulse cannons and a beam cannon. Also it is equipped with an extra deflector and 2 point beams for extra defense. However the designers had to remove the frosch gun due to its high energy consumption. The Malvis has proven to be an effective vessel but still is not as useful as the Natoa

Talon Heavy Destroyer

Image

The Talon is a marvel in Scrath technology. Time and time again it dominates other destroyer class ships using its awesome firepower. It houses 2 rail guns, 2 gatblasters, 2 beam cannons, and 2 pulsar cannons. For defense it has 4 point beams and 2 deflector modules that can cover 6 sections of its hull. However, its firepower comes at a cost... The Talon is the least armored destroyer of its class, and its slow speed, slow turning, and exposed deflector modules makes it an easy target for sneak attacks and faster ships.

Sanden Battlecruiser

Image

The Sanden is a battlecruiser that was made for punching through tough defenses or blockades. Its thin profile, and heavy armor makes it a tough and effective vessel. Its armed with 3 beam cannons, 1 gatblaster, 2 pulsar cannons, and 3 scatter beams, as well as 4 point beams, and 2 deflector modules that can cover up to 8 sections of its hull. However its back is left clean open for sneak attacks of faster ships.

Magance Heavy Dreadnought

Image
*Design Updated and Upload*
http://www.wyrdysm.com/battleshipsforev ... fected.shp

The pinnacle in Scrath design and technology, the Magance is a force to be reckoned with. The Magance carries an armament of 4 beam cannons, 2 gatblasters, 2 rail guns, 4 scatter beams, 2 gatpulses, 4 pulse cannons, 2 pulsar cannons, 18 small missile launchers, and a beam weapon code named "The Search light" which can and will annihilate anything unfortunate enough to get within a range of 300 from its bow. For its defensive armament, it has 1 massive deflector module that can cover up to 10 sections of the ship, a experimental projector that stops projectiles for a short amount of time, and 6 point beams. When engaging the Magance it is recommended to take advantage of its slow turning speed and flank it.

Embunte Tactical Quantum Nuke Launcher

Image

The Embunte is the last resort if the war against the G.U.P. starts going down hill. The Embunte is capable of launching a Quantum Nuclear Device at a single planet or fleet causing inconceivable damage to what ever it is firing at. If detonated upon a planet's surface it will cause inconceivable damage and render the planet inhabitable. The weapon however is less effective against fleets then it is against planets. Fleets can easily avoid the projectile which means that the Embunte must go within visual range of the fleet in order to actually have a chance at hitting its target. Also when launched the device as to charge up to release its full blast potential, which it cannot do within visual range. Still the blast is powerful enough to at least damage or disrupt an incoming fleet.

Stations

New Order shipyard

Image

A large shipyard capable of producing or repairing New Order ships. The station is armed with 2 rail guns for defensive purposes, and 4 tractor beams to guide ships in.

New Order Temple

Image

A headquarters that are built in every sector controlled by the New Order. These stations act as communication hubs that relay info about the current sector to the headquarters at the Scrath home world. The temple is armed with 2 pulsar cannons and 4 beam cannons to defend itself if attacked. It also houses 4 deflector modules that can each can cover 2 sections of the station.

Grey Eve Station

Image

A weapon that houses the most powerful beam cannon ever created by the Scrath. Much like the Search Light weapon on the Magance, this powerful weapon unleashes what looks like a powerful flash of light around the base of the weapon destroying or severely damaging everything around it. However a ship properly protected by several deflector shields can easily survive the weapon and counter attack while the weapon is charging. The weapon also has no defensive weaponry or shielding so it must be protected.

Not bad, absolutely not bad. I see none of the mistakes normally made by beginners, and though there is some repetition, it is decently executed. Well done, and welcome to the forums.

Ya these are pretty nice, you didn't use some of the boring ordinary shapes. Or sections for that matter, a few spots are very unique. Good range of ship sizes, keep it at this level of detail and quality and you will do fine. Welcome

As they have said. Not to shabby, keep it up. Hope to see more in the future.

Really good for first ships.

I think your smaller ships are better than your larger ones. The Natoa and Malvis in particular are very nice ships. I'm also a big fan of the New Order Temple.

I'm not a huge fan of the Magance. There's a lot of stuff there I like, but my general dislike of section 18 (which you use a lot here) keeps me from really likeing it too much. I think you could maybe do something to cut down on the section 22s around the core area. I do really like the bridge area though.

The Shipyard could definitely use some work. Right now, it's very thin and almost more like just a skeleton of a shipyard. I think you could fill it out and add some more detail to it and it would be much improved.

Thanks for the input phoenix, now that you mention it the ship yard does look a bit like a skeleton :o , ill have to fix it up a bit.

and as for the Magance I see what you mean, ill mess around with the core area a bit till I get something that looks a less repetitive

UPDATE!!! I have changed the design of the core section of the Magance and I am currently working on a totally new design for the shipyard. Also ill update the pics of the other ships without the gradient option so your can see the colour better.
(and sorry for the double post)

Thanks for the comment, the ships themselves are pretty overpowered against the normal ships, but against my other fleets im working on they're pretty balanced. I won't be releasing them yet tho because there are still some things i need to tweak and stuff.

Very nice. I particularly like the Natoa, Malvis and Talon. Nice overall shape and weapons layout. While the Sanden and Magance are good ships in and of themselves, they don't follow the same plan of the cooler smaller ships; the "U" shape is lost on them and they become the oft-seen delta.

I too would like to see a download! I'm working on a fleet of my own and I'd like to have something to balance against. These ships look a good sturdy example to give me a direction. It's obvious you have some custom weapons. Are all the ships' guns modded or only a selection?

Can't wait to see more.

I think you need to resize the Gazeka because it looks bigger then the Natoa and Malvis.

That's because he was smart and lurked on the forums for a while before he made his ships, so he knew not to make newbie mistakes. If more people did this, we wouldn't have such a strong correlation between newbies and noobies.Difference one: Firefox 3 thinks newbies is spelled correctly, but thinks noobies is 'boobies' spelled wrong.
And I have to agree with the people here, these ships look great, and the section 18 spam is quite well hidden by variation of other pieces. One question though, did you color these ships brown-ish grey, or did you color them grey and they came out that color in-game?
