The Fleet of the Luytean Order

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

The Fleet of the Luytean Order

Post by Darkship »

-------[ Security Access Granted]-------

Welcome Deacon,

Our movement into old EC territory is swift and thankfully non-confrontational. However engagements with the Enslavers have been increasing every week. Ever since your promotion to Deacon and the crippling of your Minister class frigate, the Council has deemed it necessary that you be given command of a new ship.

[Opening database]

Deacon, below are the selection of ships we can currently assign. Remember your decision will ultimately decide your role in the Salvation Plan. So consider with great care your next command.

May the Eternal Light Guide you.

------------------------------------------------

ArchDeacon

Image
The ArchDeacon Class of destroyer is one of the largest ships we have constructed since our forced exile from Luyten Prime. With a complete beam weapon package, and a complex AI controlled shield allocation system, The ArchDeacon is a prime example of the Order's Finest Engine Smiths
This ship is the Order's best hope for defeating the Enslavers should we ever have to do that.

Bishop
Image
The Bishop class Carrier was one of the new classes of ships built in old Earth Coalition territory. Using advances in AI drone control technology, the Bishop's role is solely support. However when engaging smaller ships, the Bishop is capable of crippling them.

Deacon
Image
The Deacon class Corvette is a smaller version of the ArchDeacon dreadnoughts. With a smaller frame leads to a corresponding smaller reactor meaning the output of the beam weapons is reduced. However it is still a very effective warship

Monk
Image
The Monk Class Corvette is another new design. Capitalizing on enhanced laser optics, the Monk is capable of a longer sustained amount of firepower. With its four great laser gatling mounts and countless smaller ones, It is perfect for suppressing smaller ships and bloodying larger ones.

Evangelist
Image
The Evangelist Class Frigate is a dedicated long range support ship. Mounting three linear catapult augmented plasma cluster cannons, it is capable of damaging ships from afar. The respectable blast radius is also very effective at destroying turrets.

Minister
Image
The Minister class Frigate is a small vessel dating back to our exile from Luyten Prime. Nevertheless its rugged frame has allowed for multiple upgrades and enhancements. It sports circular blast cannons, small laser turrets and ancient coilguns that are still very effective.

------------[incoming message]-------------

Deacon,
The second fleet has arrived from out of system, they will be arriving at our staging location in a few moments. If you wish you may survey the fleet as it makes its docking approach. Here is a still shot of the fleet as they dropped out of phase just beyond this star.

EDIT:

-------------[database updated]-------------

Rosetta
Image
The Rosetta is one of the few remaining manned single ships in the Order's possession. Refitted several times prior to our arrival in old chartered space, the current model mounts a single circular blast cannon (demeter) for interception and strafing of the enemy ships.

Scroll
Image
The scroll is another relic of the past age, though its effectiveness as a beam bomber is unsurpassed. currently mounting miniaturized beam cannons in swivel mounts, it is capable of quickly strafing large ships and utterly destroying small ships. The scrolls are deadly in swarms.

-------------------[update segment complete]---------------

Pastor
Image
The Pastor Class Freighter is the largest cargo moving vessel in the Order's fleet. Capable of carrying two gigantic modular cargo holds, it can either act as supply mover or as a passenger mover. In both cases however, due to its small reactor size, it is unable to mount any sort of weapons to defend itself against other warships. The only defense comes in the form of point defense turret that protect against most projectiles.

Shepherd
Image
The Shepherd class is a venerable escort destroyer that has served the Order for many years since our departure from Luytean prime. Once a cutting edge ship, it has undergone various refits over its service time. However, their number have been diminishing as they are being phased out for the more versatile Monk. A particular instance of Shepherd losses was during Our transit to EC space, when a section of the Order freighter fleet was enveloped in a region of Chaos space. Only five Shepards survived the encounter, all other eight Shepherds were presumed lost.

I'll have to say that the Deacon is the best.

very nice fleet, I really like the overall design and cohesion of the fleet.

The Deacon and the Archdeacon, despite how much I like the forward beam corridor, bug me for some reason. I'm not really sure what it is, I think it might be that there's a lot of stretching and it just doesn't look great in places.

The Bishop is probably my favorite, I really like the section 9 "barrels". I also really like the placement of the demeter/sec13s.

One note on the Monk. There's a slight mirroring error with the section 20s on front. I think the bottom one needs to be moved down a pixel, they're slightly off.

Nice engines, also nice designs. For some reson the ArchDecon reminds me of a crocodile... :)

Wow... I'm really liking this fleet. It's got a mix of high technology and the blocky, solid look.

It reminds me of BSG type ships.

No, seriously, its a nice looking fleet, but can you really attack things with capital ships only? You get, like, five BAJILLION bonus points for making fighters (from me, anyway)
This user is a proponent of the whole "Check your **** parenting" idea.

This is a signature. It goes at the end of my post.

I like the Scroll, actually. Probably because those sections never cross my mind when it comes to little ships.
And the big ships are nice, but I'm not fawning over them.

You sure do love your broadsiders.

I'm liking the whole theme with the rear 2 points. Those are very nice. The Deacon's main cannon is also very nicely done. I like how you use blue as a contrast of black and white.

Very neat. A nice take on the BSG-esque style of ships. I spy a mirroring error on the Shepard though. Centre Aegised thruster thing, the one at the bottom.
