Encounter File. Go to custom game > New Encounter. Place your ships in it. save.

Hi! I'm new here, so here is my entry (I'll be lucky if it ain't similar to something already on the forum). I figure it won't win, but I won't know if I don't try. This ship is Midboss, something that I was putting together on a lark. It's basically a boss ship of Stage 3 or 4 of a shoot-em-up space game (hence the name MIDboss). Midboss is shielded on four of its sides by aegis deflectors, with weapons platforms sticking out from the gaps. It's protection is balanced by spreading out the firepower so it can't concentrate all of it's guns on one ship. If one weapons platform is destroyed, it seems to rotate to fire the opposite one at the target. Any destroyed platforms leave an open spot to destroy the section holding the aegis deflectors (and shielded segments), which when destroyed, leave the central core exposed. Kaboom.

Edit: Sorry. I was making this and thought: 'Huh. This could be a boss ship for a shoot-em-up type game.' That's what I meant. I'll try to be more clear in the future.

Darth: Uh... I'm not... EXACTLY sure, but your submission is an original ship? Cause it sounds sorta like it's a fanship for a game that... doesn't exist? Er... I guess... anyhow, a clarification there would be good. I'd hate to screw up somehow.

Also, as a general note: it'd be better for the people with "backstory coming later" to actually take a few seconds to hammer out something. Anything is better than a 0/5 in that category.

BillyJoeBob: I appreciate your reference screenshot, but I can't help but notice that you replicated the Arkbird's TOP aspect while your reference screencap shows in wonderful detail the SIDE aspect. Which means it's about as useful in judging your accuracy as a swift kick in the balls. I mean, I WILL google-image to try and find a reference pic, but I'd rather not. 'Cuz I'm lazy. And it's not in the judge's job description.

It's because that file isn't a valid .shp file. It won't open on my copy of BSF at all.

It works just fine on my copy. I've got the latest copy.

The latest construction from renowned manufacturers Supergalactic Drive Yards, the Canute class features innovative design improvements in structural integrity, weapon systems, auxillary modules and propulsion capability.

The Battlecruiser is armed with various missile deployment systems, including the standard Kubatz round and the long-range semi-thermonuclear IRSmebalm. It also sports a range of linear salvo and flak cannons, and astronomical guns, giving the Canute a powerful frontal attack capability, and an accurate and efficient point-defence grid.

I wish to appeal for a judge position. Yes, I did not fulfill my duties as a judge in the previous pageant, but I will prove to you that I can be responsible this time. Summer vacation has come around- a great time for me to judge.
