Red Yards Fleet: new Emerald designs

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Red Yards Fleet: new Emerald designs

Post by Malahite »

Here are some of my first designs... gonna need lotta work to catch up with some of the ships I've already seen here ;3

Aggressor Class Battle Cruiser
Image
The Aggressor is a fairly new design, developed for stand-alone mission, without the support of other ships. Soon after the first Aggressors were brought into action, they've gotten the nickname 'Pirate Doom', since any common outlaw ships couldn't compare to it.

OrionX Class Battle Cruiser
Image
The backbone of the Terra Star Fleet, the Orion isn't a new design, but after sever improvements it still manages to catch up with the newly-developed ships of it's class, and having the reliable Orion as your support ship is always viewed as a large plus, since most of it's crews are exercised officers.
It's not a secret, that the TSF policy is to give the newer ships to new recruits and crews, so that in case of combat they match up with their ships equipment and modern weaponry the older ships crew exercise and in-battle knowledge.

Atlas Class Science Ship
Image
The Atlas-class is an uncommon ship - based on the hull of the resigned class Hercules battleships, these few ships with modern, but little weaponry are the explorers and analysers of newly found star systems and planets. Using the Hercules class's ability to land on planets with even thick atmosphere these ships are nothing more then galaxy-travelling laboratories. With supplies for over two years, they can land and stay in the most harsh of environments, with no support from any other vessel.

Farsong Class Scout/Spy Corvette
Image
The Farsong is the one of the latest designs in espionage and sabotage technology. With a minimum energy signature, fast engines and extremely long range, this ships have became the favourite choice for behind enemy lines hit&run mission. Teams of Farsongs, consisting usually four ships can easily damage and slow down the production of an enemy shipyard.

This is it for now, hope you like it ;D

I like the OrionX, but the wings on the aggressor look too abrupt in my opinion.
The Farsong is pretty neat as well, you may want to think of a custom colour scheme for your other ships though.
Overall not too shabby for first ships.

There's some horrific mirroring errors on the Atlas; it's a nice design but there's components and weapons all over the place. Only other such error is the thrusters on the OrionX.

Nice looking ships, other than that.

Not bad but the big ones suffer from the desire to use as many different types of weapons as you can.

Thanks for the replies, here's something new. BTW how to make the ships keep the custom colours you give them in the shipEd?

TaurosMed class Medical Freighter
Image
Following the successful line of Tauros-class cargo ships, the TSF has adapted some of them into various roles that required transportation.
The TaurosMed [or TaM] is an unarmed, medical vessel, used as a field hospital, rehab centre, and an evacuation ship.

Uh, maybe it's the faction your spawning them under in sandbox mode? I'm not quite sure what your question means though.

I like that medical freighter though. Nice design. I like to see something other than hardened combat ships included in a fleet. It's just fun.

Hahaha, the cross on the bow is cute. Once you manage to do the colors, you might want to make the ship white with the cross red?

That was the design, but the sandbox spawns them like this ;/

Fiddle a bit with glow and gradients. It'll work. Very nice ship. We need more non-military ships.

If it's a medic type ship, why no nano's?

Medics aren't engineers. It's been a pet peeve of mine for a long time, so I'm glad he didn't include them.

Besides, the current role of hospital ships is just that: to take care of wounded. Because their purpose is purely for the saving of life, they are not to be fired upon by international maritime law. If they had a role aside from taking care of wounded, they would no longer be a hospital ship but a strategic vessel.

Ah, my mistake. So, a "defend the medic" type encounter ship, perhaps?

Defend a convoy of transports ;]
Couple of new designs [still having colouring issues, but working on them]

TaurosWar class Military Transport Freighter
Image
Following the successful line of Tauros-class cargo ships, the TSF has adapted some of them into various roles that required transportation.
The TSF TaW is the one most close to the civilian original design. Right after changing point-defence and self-defence weaponry, the starfleet shipyards modified the cargo pods so that they may carry troops for surface combat.

TaurosVenom class Special Design Freighter
Image
Following the successful line of Tauros-class cargo ships, the TSF has adapted some of them into various roles that required transportation.
The TaVN is the strangest variation of the Tauros ship line. As most pirate ships usually retreated while seeing military ships escorting freighter convoys, the RedYards Fleet has been ordered to come up with a starfighter carrier, based on the civilian Tauros hull. After redesigning the cargo compartments, and adding two large hangars in the back of the ship, the Venom was born. Quickly, it proved to be what the fleet required, and a single ship of this class could provide defence for even large convoys. But the most bizarre use of the ship was discovered, when a convoy protected by two TaVM's accidentally jumped-in into a major battle with alien forces. While the rest of the freighters retreated, the Venoms stayed, providing support for the fleet. In the end, the captains had to admit that it was these ships that gave them a fairly easy victory, and soon after that Venoms started to be assigned to regular starfleets, providing both supplies, and starfighter support

Razor class Long Range Bomb Frigate
Image
Called also the 'Gun Thug', the Razor deserves it's title as the best long-range support ship in the fleet. With a set of twin rocket launchers, each row firing a different warhead and each with a range of over 1000 units, even after 15 years in the service is still the most reliable damage-dealer in the TSF. It's not to uncommon to see even heavy battleship shoot down signatures painted on the sides of elite pilot ships.

And now a shot taken above RedYards homeplanet - then engine and fly tests of a new battleship

Tauros Venom is awesome. I love armed merchantmen.
