A uh, really big ship?

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Or you could go with getting 7z... I don't know where to get it (though I could probably find out if I looked for more then 2 seconds) but a sibling got it and installed it, and it seems to handle most things easily, .rars, .zips included.

Either way, TopicCreator, (Kazuael) these are some -awesome- ships, right here. Very well made, especially considering their size! I compliment your ability to build something of a large size without adding weapons to every part, almost compulsively!...(I do that. Ha.)

Any way, the shipyard actually looks nice, if not silly, and more of a novelty then the other three ships...

But it looks like it could use some more nanomatrixes, really...
Or that just might be me. Aheh...

Yeah it's currently incomplete and it really doesn't serve a purpose as it doesn't fit the game. I built it just for kicks and to test exactly how big something that takes up the entirety of the ship editor actually is in game.

The idea of the shipyard having berths is kinda useless anyway since nanomatrices have a radius repair and not an designated area repair, so if anything it's really just for looks.

Once again, I apologize for the double post, but I didn't want to start another topic, so here we go.

Here's my newest ship.

The first two screenshots are from older versions of it so you may notice the weapon placement is a bit different than that from the last one.

It's a long range forward firing beam platform pretty much, with little mining laser batteries around it to make it seem like a flying fortress kinda thing. Once again it's kinda overpowered, but it looks damn cool when it fires. It has a Dieterling for the sole purpose of running away and attempting to reposition itself, as it has basically no way to kill anything with more than 400 range weapons behind it.

It's not uploaded yet as I'm trying to fix a couple of things with it, but I'll edit this post as soon as I finish and get it into the database.

You, sir, make some really badass ships.

I'm officially a fan. ^_^

Seriously if you become the desinger of the boss battles in this game (if there will be any, hope there is) then the player % is going to drop by around 75 - 80% and suicide rates will go up by 25%

All the main guns are beams, yet you don't use point beams in defense?

The last 25% can now feel smug because everyone else has taken orders from a little sig box.

Da_Higg and Grimthor both have good points. :)

Personally, I love challenging boss battles. In fact, I think I need to go into sandbox and set up a couple boss battles against your ships, see what it takes to bring them down. ^_^

That is a good point. It would make a lot more sense to use point beams to keep with the theme. I was thinking that the point beams would be a bit more overpowered than the flak guns but I'll switch them out and give it a test.

I'll let you guys screw around with it as I'm currently in UCLA's band camp and it's from 9 AM to 9 PM so I won't have a whole lot of time to do build stuff.

Here you guys go, have fun with it. I'm also out of ideas for ship shapes cause the standard stick with engines at the end shape is getting kinda boring, so if you have any ideas for ships you'd like me to build, feel free to leave them here, I'll check back roughly every day before and after band camp.

Thanks again for the feedback and comments guys.

Hm... Well, all the ships so far have a sort of "terran" feel with their design, as far as the pieces used and the style.

Maybe make a more alien superbattleship? Something more round, perhaps, since they have a lot of circular ships.

Why not make a space station?

A -big- space station.

There's a topic dedicated to it right over there... Er, either way, the new ship looks...

Beamery.
I know that's not a word, but that's what comes to mind... I suppose I'll load it up some time later... Nice work again, though... Must take some patience to build these things, huh? =D

Quick post while I'm on dinner break for band camp =P.

I've tried making space stations and I can never seem to get it to feel right. Something about the fact that it has to be horizontally and vertically symmetrical just throws me off. I realize it doesn't actually have to be but then it seems kinda strange. Maybe I'll try to build a station-ish looking ship and then just change the core to match.

Also I just realized that my building of the ship in a flying wing shape was totally useless as wings don't do anything in space.

Build time for the ships is roughly an hour to two hours depending on how satisfied I feel with it, especially when I have to use repeating pieces. This one it took me probably a bit more than two hours because I was trying to build the wings in such a way that I didn't use the same pieces over and over in like four layers extending outward, 'cause then it would look kinda cheaply done.

Anyway, I've got another two hour rehearsal in a bit so I'm off to grab dinner.

Nonsense! A wing is a surface upon which you can mount more weapons.

So I finally found time to build a new ship between the 12 hours per day of band camp, and I took MaxAstro's advice of building something less human looking, and after much experimenting this is what I got.

Image

While my other ships are incapable of doing much more than sitting there and looking cool, especially against anything with aegis deflectors, this one can actually kill stuff, so it may be the most overpowered ship yet. I was originally going for a planet killer style massive beam platform thing, but then I figured that's already horribly overused and I just built a beam platform, so instead I built a uh...something or other. I'm not quite sure what it is, but it's there.

Anyway, comments/criticisms are welcome as usual and the .shp and .sb2 are uploaded for your viewing/editing pleasure. Thanks again all.
