Hestia Alpha mkII

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Hestia Alpha mkII

Post by Havock »

For a lack of a better name, it was my entry in the alternative hestia alpha thread.

Piccy:

Feel free to make suggestions (possibly pics) of a more original weapon placement.
It looks fast and furious, so maybe we should make it too :p

I'm not too keen on it, personally. It looks like an overgrown fighter...

Not bad...maby you should put something in the front, betwene hte two forward parts...something that blocks direct shots to the main section...

It looks very nice but its rather vulnerable from the front. If the six-shooter Hestia Gamma makes it back into the game (perhaps as a pirate ship) I may adopt this design instead.

I like the hull but not the weapon placement. The pulse guns really need to be as close together as possible and as far forward as possible to be effective.

Quite the opposite. the more forward they are the easier for them to be destroyed.
this way the enemy has to first chew trough the front section to get to them.

That's a matter of survivability, not damage. You can just reverse the orer of sections, putting the small sections forward, and large section bad. This will even increase HP of the sections and allow the weapons to be put forward more safely.

Well, I think, if you think about it, it's actually pretty well-armored, given how well-protected the deflectors are. Just manage your deflectors and this should be a pretty tough ship.

???

A small section forward wouldn't block much. Half the shots would still hit the section with the big guns...less effective... :?

like I said; I want suggestions for the weapon placement :p

the two extra stub-wings are simply there to make the wings look nice.
Perhaps a single narrow-arc beamer where the mining beam is now, or focus a bit more on the scatterbeam part.

Wepon placement is excellent as it is..offers good protection for the weapons.

Looks O.K....but I'd use Blasters rather than Pasma Cannons...faster and more difficult to intercept.

I don't like the look of three weapons cramped around core. Really seems crowded

Maybe move the mining beam to the forward tip of the core. a lot of cannon ships have weapons laced there.

Personally I'd wait until the full range of weapons are available in the ship builder.
