Gladiator Ultimaship (suprisingly balanced)

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Gladiator Ultimaship (suprisingly balanced)

Post by Aegis »

This is the first mega-sized ship I have ever made.
I've made it so it has no overkill super weapons (except a railgun with 1 degree arcs) I really can't be bothered making a screenshot, so here are some specs:

The blueprint is 447kb
It took the whole size of the ship-maker. (not 3.0, that would be MASSIVE)
It is in .rar format, the ship and the blueprint.
And I have special effort to ensure it has proper parenting. :D
Here's the link, enjoy:

I have to say that it's very impressive but balanced indeed! :) Not too many deflectors and nanomatrices. Kinda scary when it suddenly teleports.

The only gripe is the too large amount of weaponry in the front where a few opponent ships will go.

It goes backwards?

Which way is the front in that screenshot? Top or bottom?

Modules can't be rotated.

So it's the bottom.

:D I'm glad to see that so many people like it! But I bet that someone will come along into this topic with a ship the size of a Proteus with enough overkill weapons to destroy the Gladiator in one hit. And then they will start 1337 speaking. It will look something like this:
|-|4! 1 7074LL'/ 0\/\/|\|3D j00R pU|\|7 L177L3 5|-|1P

And I noticed in that screenshot that the FPS dropped right down to 7 :D I guess the Gladiator will have to wait until next-gen supercomputers!

Maybe it could be Nagaya 4! Except people might complain the some Hestias and an Athena couldn't even kill it.

Look out for even bigger ships when Shipmaker 3 is stable and when each computer in the worldhas a Quantum processor* to cope with the ship :D.

* Normal processors can only do 1s and 0s, but a quantum one could potentially do infinite minus 1 calculations at once, look out for it in the year 30,000!
