First Ship Ever

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

First Ship Ever

Just got into this game, seems pretty cool, but I can only do shipbuilder because when I actually try to play the game itself, it gives me numerous errors. That's sorta of a bad pic, if you want me to take a new one, I will.

ok,firstly welcome to the forum. your ship does have a alien like feel to them. but try not to mix sw parts with stock parts. also you can set the thrusters to alpha 0 to hide it. try using highlights instead of coloring the entire ship it will help make the ship look less cramp. overall a fine starter ship but it could use some improvments.

A good idea but not a hard and fast rule. As I recall Arcalane did some pretty nice hybrid ships for the metagame that looked like classic bsf style with high tech armor over parts of it. My main concern with this ship is how incomplete it looks. Seems like you should add more detail and definition to it. You should know what you want the ship too look like from a distance, but each area should also have a fairly obvious purpose or at least make sense structurally. Welcome to the forums and I look forward to your future endeavors.

*edit* long as you take the screenshot at default zoom(home key) and leave it as a .png, it should be fine. What kind of errors are you getting? Might post them in the into and resources branch if they continue.

Welcome. I see a few problems with your ship.

A pointer about the green: don't use pure, saturated green, it hurts our eyes. Dull it down a bit.
As a general rule for beginners, use grays and only use color for accent.

Also, near the middle it gets very spindly, as though one shot might make it snap in half.
By all means, take artistic license, but generally a somewhat realistic approach is preferred.

With that said, this is decent for someone just starting, certainly better than a lot of the crap that comes through here, so keep building and have fun.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

halofreak: I learned how to group arrange, no stock parts coming in my next one.

jwa: If you mean it should be less empty spaces in the ship itself, then I understand.

Kiltric: I made my new one with all gray except for a red core, which I want to highlight. I would I go about doing that? Also, I mean a separate core, not the core itself.
